You can't wait until the tournament is 25% over before making your prediction!DeChambeau
With the rain last night and soft greens, you knew there would be some low scores today. Some good golf being played this afternoon. Setting up a really good leaderboard headed into the weekend.
I can do as I damn well please. You can't wait until the tournament is 25% over before making your prediction!![]()
Maybe wait until Sunday evening to pick your winner. It will give you a better shot.I can do as I damn well please.
It’s very possible. I think everyone knows it. Rory mentioned there are others behind them. This is just TV building up something special. So much is being made of the Rory/DeChambeau matchup, it would tickle me if someone else was to catch fire and win it.
It has always been that way. It's merit based. You earn your pay and the competition is fierce.I don’t watch LIV but certainly have no animus toward it.If someone offers the kind of money these players were being offfered how could they turn it down.Remember there are no guaranteed contracts on the PGA tour. You’re one back injury away from losing your livelihood. But I do wish somehow they could figure out a way to bring everyjone back together.
I went nuts screaming at the TV, what was he thinking. No way that shot hits anywhere but left of that flag. No reason to hit to flag....I'm very happy for Rory.
He's very fortunate to survive that tragic mistake at 13.
I agree. This was great. I know a lot of the younger people like Bryson and LIV but I prefer real golf. Other than Bryson most of the really good players that have gone to LIV have ruined their careers. No one remembers how much money you made. They remember major championships that you have won. I keep hoping some of these guys will come back to the PGA TOUR. Otherwise their skills will deteriorate and they won’t be able to continue to compete in the majors.I've been watching the Masters religiously since 1982 when I first started playing golf. When you could drive up on a Wednesday and get in with no problem. Parking was free and tickets were like $10. You could ask for autographs back then, too. It was a reasonably-priced, full-day adventure from Columbia. The course and grounds were manicured down to the last blade of pinestraw. That and the price of a sandwich and a beer are the only things that haven't changed.
Yesterday was one of the best final rounds there ever. Close to '86. Rory just couldn't help himself yesterday. Seemed like he could only focus when he was in trouble. The easy shots were too much for him - esp. 13 and 18. It could have been as dramatic as his epic meltdown in 2011, when he hit the cabins in the woods to the left of 10 and made 7. But he didn't give up yesterday despite the BIG mistakes, and he came through when he needed to. And then watching him collapse at the end symbolized everything good in golf...
...especially when Rory's playing partner symbolizes so much of what is wrong in today's game (it's definitely hard to watch the slow play, and of course, the blatant LIV advertising by BD, Reed and the others). LIV is to golf what Top Golf is to driving ranges.
Hats off to Rory. A memorable Masters.
That and others throughout the week. I've never seen a man make so much work for himself and yet win.I'm very happy for Rory.

Rory has a long history of choking at the Masters. He generally has three good rounds and one horrible round to keep him from winning in Augusta. All things being equal, if he manages two bogeys instead of two double bogeys to end his Thursday round this year, he wins going away. The Masters was a huge monkey on Rory's back. That and others throughout the week. I've never seen a man make so much work for himself and yet win.
LIV paid big bucks to golfers with big names but who were pretty well past their prime trying to generate instant interest in LIV golf. Bryson is pretty much the lone exception to that.I agree. There is some younger talent in there, Koepka and Niemann to name a few! Their contracts aren't for life, I think we'll see how dedicated they are to LIV when those contracts run out! Do you play golf for the money only or would you like more competition and some eyes and interest watching you play?LIV paid big bucks to golfers with big names but who were pretty well past their prime trying to generate instant interest in LIV golf. Someone who is in the know about such things told me the LIV money paid to the golfers up front worked basically like NIL payments. LIV owns those golfers and pretty much everything they do that generates money. Podcasts, Youtube channels, paid appearances, etc. are all controlled by LIV. He said quite a few of them have become disenchanted with LIV because their Saudi overlords want to control everything they do.
LIV is a joke. They didn't really sign any top talent this year. Their TV ratings suck.LIV paid big bucks to golfers with big names but who were pretty well past their prime trying to generate instant interest in LIV golf. Bryson is pretty much the lone exception to that.
