That 4 or 5-minute celebration, greeting of his family, and the walk up to the clubhouse, was pretty amazing to witness live. It was almost like you were experiencing it with him. Pretty cool how they caught all of that.

Will Spieth eventually win the PGA and become the 7th member of the career grand slam club? For me, i say yes
Just for fun, where do you put Rory in the all time golfer list, based on his career so far (and he could win a number of times from here to the finish line)?
Five majors, 28 PGA titles (I think), and the career slam
Off top of my head, without much of a deep statistical dive, my thoughts are:
Jack/Tiger 1 and 1A
Ben Hogan next
Gary Player (or maybe Hogan and Player as 2 and 2B)
Then maybe Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson
But right after those guys, I put Rory (and Phil) up with about anyone else. Like all other sports, golf is much deeper talent wise than it was 50-60 years ago. To win at the level Rory has over almost a 15 year period now is amazing. Compare Speith, who has three different majors, but he won those in one 2 or 3 year stretch where he was lights out, but his play since then has tailed way off. Who really thinks he will win, or even contend, at the PGA next month? Scheffler just went through a Tiger-esque 2 or 3 year stretch, but can he do it as a top 5 player (like Rory has been) for the next 15 years?
Anyway, just some random thoughts on a Monday morning after watching what I thought was one of the best sports events I have ever seen.

Ain't a golfer, but do watch at times.
Top players:
- Hogan was injured in a car crash which bothered him for years. So he's well placed imo.
- Old guys Sarazen & Bobby Jones ignored. So I'd call this a post-WW2 ranking. I mean GS is a career GSlammer.
- I've wondered what Payne Stewart would have been.
He was 42 when he won the US Open. Possibly could have snuck out another one but id say top 25-30.
^^^Rory's wins inc. 2 Players, 3 World Golf Championship events, 6 FedEx events, and recently 2 signature tour events, so he has consistently beat the best of the best during his career. He won't sniff Phil's 45 tour wins, so I will put him a notch below Phil in the rankings, imo. 3 of Phil's majors came during prime Tiger era as well.
It is going to be really fun watching Rory and Scheffler battle the next 7-10 years. Hell, throw in Aberg who is on the verge of superstar level.

Torn on Masters place in history. It does. normally, provide more non-fluke winners than the other champions. But, it is also a horses for courses tournament where old timers can still play relatively well.
Patrick Reed had a 3 putt from 4 feet on 13 and left a 6 foot putt on 18 just short or we would have been talking about him as the Masters champ. Talk about putting for dough.
If Rory's drive on 1 is a yard to the left, he doesn't double. If hits even a weekend duffer's wedge to the middle of the green on 13, he doesn't double. If he doesn't jack his eagle putt on 15, then that is another shot saved.
If Rose doesn't shoot 75 on Saturday....

Seve won 50 times on Euro tour and 5 majors.....most ever. Throw in his significance to the game and that puts him on top.
Faldo won 30 times and the 6 majors.
Yeah I get you can play what if with a lot of things but hitting a bad drive or wedge shot is a lot more likely than 3 putting from 4 feet. I gave you a 2nd chance but you proved yourself to be a douchbag that was worthy of being ignored so back you go....See how that works?

He should have fired everyone in his camp that pushed him to get longer. Ruined his swing and now the injuries are popping up. Is in the prime years of his career and is not showing signs he is going to regain anywhere near his past form. I don’t see him winning another but he still has a lot of time on his side to get right.
The amount of money in golf has increased dramatically since LIV. The Masters forbids on-air mention of tournament winnings, but, for the record, Rory McIlroy picked up a cool $4.2M paycheck yesterday. His career earnings are now 2nd best at $104M. He'll likely pass Tiger Woods' $120M career tournament winnings in the next few years.

I say no. Spieth can’t get out of his own way. To me it looks like he doesn’t even trust his swing. Always some kind of goofy practice swing with a motion he doesn’t use in his real swing. I like Jordan a lot but I think he is done. Won’t win again.
