The most deceptive 1-point win in NU history.

The annoying thing (for me at least), is the headline on the ESPN video is:

NORTHWESTERN SEALS VICTORY AS INDIANA CAN'T GET SHOT OFF IN TIME

So they make it sound like NU won by one and Indiana had a chance to win, rather than NU comfortably up four and letting Indiana take (and make) a 60-foot shot at the buzzer.
I noticed that too. Oh well, there’s going to be a profound disconnect anyway between those who saw the game and those who just see the final score, even without ESPN’s help.

The flip side of this game was the Pigskin Classic back in the day when NU beat Oklahoma 24-0. It was the least lopsided 24-0 game in history.

Jeez. What a crappy take on the game. We took a lead we would NEVER RELINQUISH at 16:54 of the first half (basically 3 minutes in).

ESPN deserves an emoji:

Berry had a solid game with a double double.
So glad to see Berry isn't automatic this year for two fouls in seven minutes. In fact, I thought he was a bit screwed on some calls yesterday. I get the feeling he has a rep of some sort.

Crossing my fingersthat he can continue to drop a few 3s every night. Such a HUGE difference.

Berry is starting to feel like an unsung hero this year. Sure, when his shots aren't falling, he's less valuable, but the man gets boards and plays decent D. He's not just some shooter hanging out at the three-point line. He's one of my favorite players on this team.

Also brings intangibles. Always brings energy and never leaves a teammate on the floor of the court.

dare we call him the Sanjay Lumpkin of this team?
Different energy (pure joy! smiles!), but a similar effect. I like the comparison.

Given his cold shooting during the non-con, he even has given us some of the no-no-no-no-yes! that we had every time Lumpkin hit a three.

Great game. Ours pretty much all the way.

The final 2 minutes were all IU. In admiring how well they'd played, NU lost track of closing out a tough opponent. More exciting than it needed to be by a lot, and hopefully NU will close better. Like tomorrow.
