Silver was interviewed on ESPN and said while the league remains committed to racial equality and social justice, they will likely remove images from courts and jerseys and go back to normal. He said he understands that fans who may agree with the intent simply want to watch basketball. I think the ratings in the finals being down by 70% had something to do with the NBA's reassessment. I don't watch the NBA anyway, but my guess is that some fans will return but I also believe they have lost some fans forever.

Outside of the Golden State Warriors when they are shooting lights out, the actual basketball in the NBA hasn't been good since Shaq and Kobe's Lakers.

NBA has grown to a political and twitter happy organization. Who wants to watch a bunch of pretend politicians and world leaders play basketball?

I've never really tuned into the NBA but the pandering and politicizing this year was ridiculous.

Can’t be. I was told that these issues were not the cause of the poor ratings. So, either these were the issues, or we solved systemic racism in this country. Yay us! Way to go guys! Soy Lattes for errbody

I have watched way less, but I did turn on the Finals game last night for a while. I actually watched the 3rd and midway thru the 4th quarter, and I think Gladiator came on, and i don't know who won. It was close too.

That NEVER would have happened even 10 years ago (I checked and 10 years ago it was Lakers Celtics, so I promise you I watched every minute of every game).

Most of it is the politics that they force you to be part of. I bet they got great ratings in China, so they probably don't need me to watch, anyway.

You hit the nail on the head with the NBA's hypocrisy. They emphasize equality in the U.S. but stay absolutely silent about the much worse and more widespread abuses in China. I wonder why?

I’ll watch college basketball over the NBA everyday of the week and twice on Sundays. I was over it when $10 million players wanted more money because “they had a family to feed.”

Isn’t it ironic that Lebron James, arguably the most outspoken SJW for BLM and for stomping out oppression of minorities wherever it may be is also the largest shill for a country who enslaves people to make his ******* shoes. That doesn’t even address their abhorrent treatment towards ethnic Muslims. I fvcking love this country!

So is all the outrage in the protests and the athletes stances because people dont believe there is racism going on or is it because people dont want to hear about the racism going on. Just curious why everyone gets so mad??

Of course racism exists and when it’s uncovered we must do everything we can to end it. BLM was created to promote the belief that police systemically target African Americans in shootings and that
the US is systemically racist. I don’t believe either are true and the sports teams promoting this belief are turning off fans who simply want to watch a game.

This has resulted in massive vilification of the police, efforts to defund the police, at least 5 recent assassination attempts of police officers and support for a Marxist organization. They turn a blind eye to a terrorist organization like ANTIFA and to the rioting, looting and yes, murder of innocent people.

Further, kneeling for the national anthem is an affront to all the servicemen and women who have fought and died over the years fighting for our freedom.. At least that is the message they are sending me.

By and large, the police are not the enemies of the African-American community. And if the community continues to look outwardly and blame others for woes within their community, then positive change will never be affected. Get the bad police off the streets, prosecute the bad police and put them in prison but do not lump them all together and do not defund them Because that will hurt the very people that need the most help.

I actually went back and watched the end of the game just now...just because it's been brought up here.

Lakers are now up 3-1, it's over. Probably won't watch anymore, altho I really do like the Heat. Tyler Hero is 20 years old and really good, Jimmy Butler has had a hell of a series, just a fun team to watch.

Lebron...I hate to admit it, but when he sided with China over that poor assistant coach who said China uses slave labor, I quit liking him. I liked him before that, but done with the guy now. Obviously, I don't give a crap what he thinks about social issues in America since he's a big China apologist.

You can’t complain about people expressing their opinions by not watching games, right? It’s called freedom.

I think there is racism. I don’t agree that it’s systemic. I also disagree with the notion of white privilege, white oppressors, and any other form of racism which lumps all of us into one group. I find it insulting to use the deaths of criminals who were resisting arrest as martyrs. Blake literally raped a young girl and had a knife after resisting and assaulting an officer. Floyd had previously pistol whipped a pregnant woman and OD’d on fentanyl. Taylor’s boyfriend fired on police, she’s dead because of him. The jackass in ATL that fell asleep in the Wendy’s who resisted and assaulted an officer? All of them have something in common and not a fvcking thing has to do with racism.

People are being used in an election year, period. We all are equal, we’re all Americans. There are socioeconomic disparities, and there always will be. Make better choices make the hard choices and climb out of the trailer park. I know far too many that have through hard work. That’s the discriminator.

When they are protesting actual incidents of racism, let me know. I didn’t see any of them protesting Dylan roof’s shooting. Instead athletes do stupid **** like the 2 former mountaineers who ran out of the tunnel in St. Louis with their hands up because they believed an innocent black child was murdered by a racist cop while his hands were up and saying don’t shoot.
fn dumbasses.

Dont know what he ate but that Incident is the clearest act of violent racism in the past 10 years and BLM was nowhere to be found. Instead they are oretending police are racist by using false narratives and fabricated stories.

Not to tell them what opinion to hold but to show them the lies used to form those opinions.
