The hall monitor is trying to agitate and get it closed. He thinks it is his moral duty. Put him on ignore.

It's part of the psychological makeup of who those people are, how they got to "their" opinions in the first place. There were others who were even worse about getting threads they didn't like closed, simply couldn't handle some opinions being expressed on "their" team's site.

I think in the end all will work out for the best... those of us who were genuinely interested in discussion will do so elsewhere, maintain the relationships we've built elsewhere. Places like this will die, but monetize themselves just enough to justify it.

Good morning D-League

Off to the dermatologist this morning. I'm the now 61 year old poster child for sun screen. I hope all that is done today is burning (well freezing) a bunch of spots and no "You'll have to come back and get these cut out". No melanoma for me yet, so all's good.

Lowe out for the season so DA will have to mentally turn himself into a point guard. Hopefully our second half team will show up for 40 minutes from here on out.

I hope everyone has a great day.

All, HymanKaplan has started a free, free speech UK discussion site. There is room for a D-League thread there I believe. Net, if this thread gets deleted here, send me a message with email & I'll see if I can't get you &D-League on there. It's private. Like 35 members so far. Vern

Good morning D-Leaguers. So far, so good.

This is my first day back on the subway to my DC office since mid-December. A bit of an adjustment.

Cool and clear in the east. My son has been offered a job in Alaska. Kind of a lateral move from his Department of Interior job in Texas. I hope he doesn’t take it. I worked in Alaska on the Alaska Pipeline for four months in 1976. It was quite an adventure but I always knew I was leaving before the winter set in.

Hope you all have a good day.

RIP Bert. I hope the Donfather is doing ok and is still with us hopefully.
(aka SawneeCat)

I spoke with Bert shortly before he passed away and he told me he thought WildcatDon has also passed. As you know Don suffered from a very severe stroke several years ago. Another one Bert told me may have passed was Railroad Cat.

Over the years Bert and I developed a close friendship and I got to know his son and daughter as well as his wife. They are as good as goodness gets. Bert would discuss several of the old timers from the D League and the good times we all had. And of course we discussed our grandchildren too. :) His granddaughter recently graduated from UK and he was so proud and rightfully so.

Bert was a student of history and a cousin I have, who lives in Mississippi, wrote a book several years back and I told her to get in touch with Bert as he would be a big help in her research. She did and he was kind enough to not only contribute but provide some very old photographs she included in her book. She credited Bert and he was so proud he actually called me to thank me. I told him we thank HIM, he provided the valuable information. That was the type of man Bert was, the best of the best.

Good luck to the D-League and I enjoyed interacting with y'all for those many years. Now I will fade away.

How is 35 invites to 35 conservatives considered free speech? LOL. I'm conservative as they get but had to chuckle at the "lunchpail gang" starting a "free speech" forum......that's private. :ROFLMAO:

Wow... thank you for posting.

Sawnee was someone for whom I had a great deal of respect as a poster; sad to hear of his passing. He stopped posting in "our" thread long ago. Some people were absolutely brutal to him and I hope such people learn, genuinely pause and reflect, that there are real flesh and blood human beings on the other side of the internet, not just avatars. I'm not surprised in the least that he was a man of great character in real life: may he rest in peace and those who loved him find comfort.

Post has been reported.
For what? To get it wiped? For Telling the dead on truth? Free speech, huh? You want to bully a poor man off the board and then run and report anyone that sees it in real time and is appalled ???? WOW. And he’s not the only one. Some have thicker skin, though. Last I’ll speak of him and may he rest in peace. He deserved much better from people hiding behind the internet. Enjoy your “free speech” private forum. What a joke and enjoy the rest of your life.

@jedwar: Please send me a PM when you get a chance. We're looking at potential legal slander here.

Matt Jones has a post up regarding this. What you guys want to talk about isn't going to happen on the site anymore because it devolves into immaturity and name calling
Lmao. Tell me a topic where that doesn’t happen. I bet all the mark pope threads are filled with mature adults talking level headed. And the in game threads when we are down 15+.

That political thread drove more traffic on this site than all other threads combined.

Think of D-
The D League is a sports thread. Right?
Think of the D-League as a bunch of mature men (we seem to bore or scare off women, without intending to) sitting around a bar or diner discussing the day's events, trading yarns about life experiences, including in the military and other careers but not limited to that, inquiring about each other's health and family, sharing good news and supporting each other with thoughts and prayers when necessary. Sports can be part of that, but isn't the focus. We've learned not to fight or aggravate each other: life is too short for such nonsense.

Does anyone know of what became of the poster 'Rooster'? He always posted pictures of locomotives that had the same number on them as the page number.
