Pulled the trigger folks. Bought a 2026 Ford Maverick XLT in Norman Oklahoma yesterday. It was time. The hoopty is acting up and I am not going to spend any more money on it so... Still have the old F150 but that is my rough it up bump it around hauling and fishing truck. Basic black just like the F150. Told my daughter the F150 is The Black Knight, and the Maverick is The Black Knight Jr.

It will take some time figuring out all of the bells and whistles. I took a couple of hours gleaning over the owner's guide (did not come with manual) have to download that online. Nope, I went online and ordered one. Screw that online crap. I need one in the truck not on my phone or computer.

Picks or it didn't happen... ;)

I could not believe my eyes when Oweh hit that shot.

I just told a good freind of mine in DC who is a Kentucky grad that this is the most excited I've been to be a Kentucky fan after a game since probably 2019. I mean, there have been lots of wins over that time. But nothing like this, with everything on the line, and a feeling like the program itself could be heading in one direction or the other. The stakes just felt enormous.

Don't ever recall seeing 70'+ worth of shots made in the last 5 seconds of any half/game/OT. Unreal. I mean the SC player timed his shot to perfection. If it doesn't go in, time for a ORbd & a second shot, or much harder for UK to get a shot than with the clock stopped. Who'd have guessed we could get it into front court even with so little time?

Good morning folks.

I was so buzzed by that Cats win that I had trouble sleeping last night. Feels good to care that much, even if it’ll be all the tougher when the journey ends.

rainy and warming in the east. Going out to a favorite restaurant for a birthday lunch for my wife and daughter. So it should be a nice day. I hope it is a good one for all of you.

Yes folks, you guessed it. I am going fishing this morning. The picture above is indicative of my first 3 days of fishing so far this year. Well, truth be told, I did catch one near 3 pounds so far this year, but that was the only one. The waters have had about 3 days to warm up since the last few days have been near or over 90°. Today's high in the mid 90's with light winds so...here we go.

For those interested, the Lady Cats play on ESPNU at 1:30 central today. I have never watched a UK lady's game, but I think I will today.

Well, leaving out of here in about 20 minutes so I need to go and pack some drinks and snacks.

You folks relax, enjoy your day and God Bless.

Wed. evening, my car - Mazda CX-30 - was hit along headlight corner by another club member parked next to me exiting their spot. Didn't pull forward enough before turning. Got estimate yesterday for entire headlight unit (cracked plastic lens, whole assembly is one unit) plus 4 body pieces needing replacement & another repaired. Take a guess at cost. See next post.

$4700.

I stared at estimator as I couldn't believe it. He said that's everyone's reaction at today's body repairs costs. $1800 in parts (Light unit is $1350 of that.), paint, labor & taxes. Good thing she can afford it. Turned down $50M for her farm near CVG from Amazon. I have no clue our the average guy deals with this stuff. Second mortgage?

Tore the hell out her back door as well as damage to front door & rear QP. I doubt it's near the cost of mine.

Heck, I keep smaller ones out of the ocean. Have fun. Real sunny here. Me, the BB, and My Darling slept in…

Had a tremendous egg sandwich/ English muffin with mozzarella cheese… and coffee. Edible

Got to do something in my garage today AND “our” office floor. Lego pieces to the max among other “toys”. The BB is sick but has spurts, the spurts include trashing the joint but he is good about trying to clean up later…

Enjoy your afternoon all….

Another day with only one bite. Turned out to be a gar. It did not bite the lure it bit the line and then twisted itself wrapping the line around its mouth. Had to cut the line on both sides of its mouth to get the line off. He/she looked pissed. Ran into a family who were catfish fishing and said they were there yesterday and got nothing and decided to try again today.

Good morning folks.

Game day. Go Cats. On paper, not a great match-up for the Cats. But these games can just come down to who is hitting shots, just as yesterday’s did.

Heading out for a run. You all have a great day.
Think about old Pidgie while walking.......that way I can live vicariously through you.....and I won't have to walk....

Well, that was ugly. And embarrassing.

Pope is officially on the clock. He failed to put together a team that was even approaching Kentucky expectations this year. It wasn't close. And Jaland Lowe wasn't going to be the difference. The fact that he thought guys who couldn't start for other teams were worth paying millions to come to Kentucky is baffling. And risking everything on a guy recovering from serious knee surgery was insane.

He'll be the coach next year. I don't see Mitch as awake enough to do anything.

With a new AD coming in eager to put his stamp on the program, Pope will either kill it in the transfer portal in the next six weeks, get a surprise elite recruit or two, and have a team ready to go in November that can compete for a Final Four. Or he'll be a lame duck by December.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 63°F and clear. Expecting 85°F for our high.

What a weekend. Gators went down too. Of course this forum experienced another classic meltdown. Such is life.

Monday, Monday... Wishing y'all a great start to your week.

Good morning everyone

Well, that was just bad. Our starting 3 guards (best 3 players?) had 1 assist and 10 turnovers. This team has been the most unpredictable and up & down team I've ever seen. Not just game to game, but one good run & then a horrible run, half, etc. Now it's on to better things this spring. Don't let a basketball season steal your joy like many here on RR do.

I'll give Pope one more year before I completely give up on him. We'll see.

I listened to turkeys gobbling yesterday morning while watching a nice sunrise. This morning I'm sitting on the patio listening to the toads singing before it gets daylight.

Have a great day.

Good morning folks. Rainy and muggy in the east. Back to work, from home today.

Dark days for Kentucky basketball. I struggled last night to find a reason to be optimistic about last year. I haven't so far. When you actually watch these tournament games and see teams like Houston and Michigan State and Arizona and St. John's and Iowa State and Michigan and see how hard they play, how smartly coached and well-conditioned they are, and often with no-name guys who will never make an NBA roster, you realize how far from the standard Calipari had gotten UK, and Pope only made it worse. THere wasn't a single Kentucky player yesterday, not even Oweh, who could have played that ISU style all-out for a full game. So, Kentucky not only has to close the talent gap, it has to close the conditioning gap. the enthusiasm gap, the pride in being a major college player gap. Nothing about Pope's attitude, personality, presence, charisma, leads me to believe he can close any of those gaps.

Blame Barnhart, and just wait it out and pray for happier times.

You all take care.

Hello All,

The sun will come out but it's cloudy. Try as I might, just deeply, deeply hurts that UK has fallen as far as it has...

I have never been a basketball guru... I KNOW what I can and cannot do. But my love of sports now, starts and ends at UK. I will not lose that. Something must change.... I hope higher powers than mine will make that happen at UK...

I cannot down Coach Pope, but he MUST get it done now or realize what he is not and do what is best for UK sooner rather than later. He of all people should be that type. If he can do it that is great but at this point I think only HE know the answer. He know's himself better than anyone else.

Do the right thing coach, do the right thing... I know he knows what that is... (He may have to take a couple days to gain the buy-in either way. There are still good people on this planet. I actually hope he can. Maybe a learning curve or whatever, I know Coach Pope knows if he can or cannot do this job at UK....

You all take care... My Darling and her friend left a bit ago for the Sauna. I have a bunch to do around here and at my oldest daughters today. (The things I need to do around here I cannot do while my wife is at home... Too many allergies. We planned this so.................... (I be bug-spraying.. pulling out the equipment.)

Enjoy your day all... It will be overcoming hurt but enjoy your day(s)...

Well, going to service the riding lawn mower here in a short. Get it ready for the season. Grass is starting to inch up. Service today and cut tomorrow.

Already cleaned the house so...

Git-r-Done....

Did not take me long at my oldest daughters house, I am thankful. No one was home but I was not in a working mood THOUGH, I got a lot done in a little time. Changed out her other toilet. Pulled her one cabinet drawer and glued it then lashed it together with some rubber tie down straps I had telling my oldest not to touch it for 24 hours.. (We shall see..)

Left my granddaughter some gummy bears. (The natural fruit and colors type they like.) Told Mom NOT to eat them either as I'd be checking with Papa's baby later...

Darn though, I am not sure where I put her new toilet handle.. I had it, and will find it but it would have taken a couple minutes to finish that job... Well, I am going back tomorrow if the Lord doesn't take me home... to "unwrap" her cabinet drawer and re-install it. (Will take about a minute. Glad she only lives exactly one mile away. Sometimes that's good, sometimes bad... ;))

Had to call My Darling and check up on her (She and her friend are out partying..) but she should be home soon. I cleaned, vacuumed, sprayed, and spruced-up the house inside. (Even sprayed the outside of the neighbors for ants and spiders while I did my own. THEY were on vacation but their kids were there. (Decent people)

NOW, if I can work up the gumption to finsh mine and the BB's office and finish off his lego's... work, work, work... Well (In my best John Wayne (Rooster Cogburn) voice to Katherine Hepburn (Ula Goodnight)....

EDIT: A bad toilet part. A first. Sent Fluid Master a picture and they shipped that part. NOW, have to take it apart again and do the same thing over again....

Good morning from ATX. 63°F / 84°F today's numbers.

Hopefully Pope and incoming AD right the program. If not, then changes coming. I'll just leave it at that.

Personally speaking, lots of work going on so I can retire from current job by May 29.

Wife continues losing weight from the cancer. She's on painkillers. Hope she at least makes it until I retire.

But, there's always a bright side, a light at the end of the tunnel.

Y'all take care and have a great day.

Good morning folks. Sunny and cold again in the east.

Austin, prayers for your wife. Sorry for what she is going through.

My wife is back from Manhattan. Got her favorite aunt into hospice care. We are in the final days of her journey. At the same time, my wife’s stepfather is failing fast from his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

She and our daughter have a long-planned trip to the Virgin Islands over my daughter’s Spring Break (she’s a teacher) and I’m urging her to go ahead with it. Life has to go on, and both can use some restful days in the Caribbean.

As for me, staying here and grinding out work days. Pulling into my subway station now. You all have a great day.

Hello all,

Been tasking to the max again today. Sitting stationary some but have hit the road too. No less busy this afternoon. I will keep in prayer all of you I know and your families. God's comfort and strength to those of you who presently need that.

To my friends here, you are good people. Take care of you and your families.

Let’s keep this sane thread on the first page. I wonder if the admin of this site ever calculates the times when the ignore button is used the most. I have a feeling this is the era of ignore. Because we are stuck here on Rafters, I plan to see less of the redundant posters who would turn a baseball thread into a Pope thread. In the past, I just linger on the football page or general discussion page. Ignore to the rescue.

Good morning folks. We going to let this thread die? I hope not. The trolls, crybabies and Chicken Littles have taken over the rest of the board for now. “Kentucky basketball is dead, and it will only get deader.”

Soring still trying to find itself in the east. But the cherry blossoms are out, along with magnolias and others, so the beauty of the season is trying to exert itself.

And all us baseball fans are at peak optimism. Even the Reds look like contenders in Spring Training, despite already losing their best pitcher for half the season and second best pitcher for awhile.

Hope you all are having a good day.

Wait, the Reds look like contenders? I sure miss those days of old when I was obsessed with the Big Red Machine.

Back on the treadmill this morning, a little trout fishing with the wife this afternoon and hopefully some hiking in the mountains tomorrow.

Friday I'll have another skin cancer removed from the front of my nose. One of the ladies we know had one done last week. I think there was a MASH episode where we would fit right in. Four years ago I went fishing in Florida and apparently forgot to use the stick sunscreen on the bridge of my nose (but didn't forget the rest). Fished too long and ended up with a nice red stripe right down my nose. Not sure that contributed, but it sure was amusing to those around me.

Hoping we retain many of our players and add a couple of studs to the roster. We'll see.

Have a great day.
