Changed my mind on installing the Tonneau 4-fold bed cover for my new Maverick. Wind is not as bad as predicted (so far) so, my wife and I went out to the shop and opened the bay door (needed more light) and installed it. Went better (easier) than I thought it would. Now we just need a good rain to see if we installed it correctly. Well, we installed it correctly as everything fit in place according to the diagram anyways. A soaking will tell the story.
We've been to Paris twice and London a dozen times.......I have never came home wishing I hadn't.........I always considered the Director's vacations while I stay at home as special occasions for me.......worth every dollar!

Never made it to Hawaii. Had orders for Hawaii as my last "overseas" assignment and had cleared post (Ft. Sill) in February 1993 getting ready to head home (Kentucky) to visit family when I got a phone call saying my orders had changed. Seems another E-6 (Staff Sergeant) had a child who was special needs and the hospital where I was to be stationed covered her needs so, he got my slot and I was told to choose my next choice so, I picked Germany.

Good morning folks. Went down into DC yesterday and really enjoyed walking through the cherry blossoms along the tidal basin. It was peak blossoms yesterday and really spectacular. Acres of delicate petals you can just get lost in, some shaking loose and blowing like snow. There was also a massive "international kite festival" on the vast lawn in front of the Washington Monument. Really colorful. Some huge kites that people were able to get aloft. One guy had one that must have been ten feet tall shaped like a skeleton that he could make dance.
And, of course, the anti-war and anti-Ice protesters were out in force near the White House; average age was either 21 or 75 it seemed. The majority I'd say were in that older grouping, aging ex-hippies who were trust fund kids who protested Vietnam n the late 1960s, and it was the highlight of their lives so they are back at it on a nostalgia trip.
Enjoyed the traveling banter on this thread my wife and daughter's trip started. Traveling was part of my job for 20 years. I've been to every state except Idaho, and about 80 countries; some pretty remote. If I ever retire, my goal is to hit 100.
Heading out for a run. I'll watch the games today with mild interest, rooting for Michigan over Tennessee and, believe it or not, Duke over UConn. Here in the east the UConn fans are more obnoxious even than the Dookies.

Well, Americans tend to not like when ICE, or border agents for that matter, execute other Americans on the street. You're either for that or against it. Most Americans appear to be against it. As far as wars go, Vietnam was a mistake which most Americans have admitted over the decades (so those ex-hippies were correct) and it sounds like we're about to see boots on the ground in Iran, which again, most Americans are against. You're speaking about 'ex-hippies' as if it's 1971 and you're some hardened father when the reality is no one wants to see Americans killed by govt. workers and an escalating war with Iran. So yeah, enjoy that, a struggling economy, and higher prices at the pump and in the stores as the govt. shuts down every few months. Big wins! All the wins!

Here's a witty line my son -- who grew up in Maryland, lives in Texas but always loved the most visiting family in Northern Kentucky -- pulled on my wife last night. She sent him a text message: "Greetings From ST. Thomas!" He responded: "I'd rather be in Ft. Thomas." That's my boy.

Well, next time don't put your toe over that line and then say you didn't when you did. You described protesters as trust fund kids now on a nostalgia trip and them being 'a certain type' (what does this mean?) when in reality there's lots of folks not happy with the current direction of things. If you're going to go there, even for one post, expect a response to that post. Don't pretend you didn't lol.

Been seriously at it today. After church (We only had one service today at 10.)
Had a nice young couple at my house today. (Looking at buying my Mazda 3...)
She is in the Army as a Medic working at a dental clinic on Fort Belvior. He is due to ship out to the Marines in three weeks.
I think we have a deal but need to wait a couple days. I will work with them as the car is in good shape and should last them.
In any event, I am thankful to have met them...

I don't know who is the lesser of the two evils with Duke and Uconn. On one hand I loved seeing Duke being flushed down the toilet, (strange thought. I crack myself up) yet I don't want Uconn to win another one putting them behind us by only one NC. I was hoping that when Capybara got here that he would have helped us catch UCLA in NC's but alas, he proved to be a one trick rat.

Good morning folks. Time to devote all our energy to rooting against UConn...But...
That last several minutes of that Duke-UConn game last night was as pure excitement as I can remember in a sporting event in a long time, especially one not involving a team with which I felt a deep attachment. I didn't watch the USA-Canada Olympic hockey game. Some friends of mine who are east coast Hockey fans were comparing it to that. Just absolutely crazy. That Duke kid could have held onto the ball, or even just thrown a softball pop-up down toward the other end of the court and the time would have expired, whoever recovered the ball. He just panicked.
Back to work here. Lots of photos from my daughter of the beaches and the sapphire and emerald sea in the Caribbean she and my wife are enjoying. I guess that's what dads are for.

Just been stupid how long these have taken for a guy that retired back at the end of September but it has not been me holding things up....
In any event, I am thankful, have a day that will live in famy... (I know what I meant anyway!)

I don’t think that UConn can beat either Michigan or Arizona. I think Puke could have the way the refs let them take 2-3 times more foul shots than whoever they’re playing. So yeah, I think it worked out for the best.
Yeah let me reply to myself. This is to state what I already know but to give thanks for what God can do... Seriously.. The Lord ALWAYS takes care of me, every time without fail. I could tell you situation after situation, year after year, decade after decade. Nothing I have is due to what I have done... I just do what I say I will do.
I stated the above...
I will get to the jist;
-The meeting I had today.....About seven minutes...... (Yes Sir, we agree.. we have to go through the motions but when the hearing is approved we agree to...yadda, yadda, yadda...) What was fair is being accomplished... (Been dealing with this court case since November of 2024...) (I never do the court thing.) Not sure what it will net me and really am not concerned as it will be a net to me. That is enough...
-The other item I had been working on many hours...The person called me today out of the blue to introduce himself. (He is an attorney. Only met one attorney I ever liked and I went to church with that guy 17 or 18 years. (He didn't make much but did well.) (That was in Kentucky in Radcliff.) (I have known and worked near hundred's of attorney's.)
Anyway, what I was worried about losing he worked out to get that part dropped. I am now working toward whatever increase I am due... (The plan is in place for that.)
-My Darlings issue, I had been working two days doing a whole lot of paperwork BUT, I received another letter today from that same agency with an entirely different total that came out to what we expected instead of a nearly four hundred dollar a month loss that was in that same agencies letter two days ago! That's done...
-My last items are the 6th of April as the 15th of April was dropped today!!! The 6th of April is the BB's birthday, I have a teleconference for a large item again that will have to be litigated in a sense. That is the morning of the 6th. My Darling has to have a procedure the afternoon of the 6th so she can walk better.
Did I say I was thankful? I AM...
