Except of course, scientists developed a vaccine for chickenpox that is pretty effective so we don't have yearly worries about how dangerous the virus can be for certain groups. And then there is the fact that those of us who got chicken pox should get a shingles vaccine to avoid that incredibly painful disease.

Well you said that we should just let Covid run its course like we have done with chicken pox, right? My point was that we actually have not just let chicken pox run its course. We went ahead and developed a vaccine which people get to stop getting sick from chicken pox.

I replied that unlike Trump who ginned up a nonexistent problem to play to his base's racism and xenophobia, Biden acted in conjunction with the CDC and with other European countries to try to do something to stem the flow of the introduction of another variant. As it turns. out it was too little too late but his motivation was very different from Trump's. Also as far as restarting the program to have immigrants seeking asylum remain in Mexico, Biden is not doing that because he thinks it is a good idea. In fact a lot of his supporters think he needs to do more to get people into the country. He is doing it because a federal judge ordered him to. I believe they call that acting with respect for the law.

Yet the places that have taken a more open approach are doing better....Sweden, Florida etc...but we dont want to copy those. Take flying....masks all the time yet no one can trace a case outbreak to one flight...what we do is the epitome of insanity and stupidity. We do not elect our best minds to positions of authority for the most part yet we follow their edicts.

Omicron has less severe symptoms yet they are screaming about the huge increase in transmitability and cases...no mention of deaths, as there are none so far....at this point its a version of a cold/flu .... we are in a perpetual cycle of hype from our medical professionals.
