Also, to be clear, that's awful. LAPD and the LA Sheriff do not cooperate with ICE, which is what the protesters were protesting to begin with... and yet they turn on LAPD and LA Sheriff when they try to stop them from going too far with ICE. It's like a countless number of fights I've broken up where I've then become the deliberate target.

And also-also, that very same link contains multiple short reports about what's going on, including one where Gov Newsome is quoted saying the administration should rescind the deployment and that our President is trying "to manufacture a crisis... hoping for chaos so he can justify more crackdowns, more fear, more control."

And also-also-also, President Trump was already claiming the National Guard deployment had been successful... before they even arrived.
Interesting.

The second paragraph is irrelevant as no one here takes Newsom seriously. His tenure as governor has been a complete failure by any measure. The fact that he was re elected speaks more to the gullible, pass me an edible Cali culture than it does his performance.

Of course, of course. Just a manufactured crisis. This was all a reaction to the response, not a cause for the response. Here we go again with this mostly peaceful ********.

And also-also-also-also:
"This is exactly what Donald Trump wanted. He flamed the fires and illegally acted to federalize the National Guard. The order he signed doesn't just apply to CA. It will allow him to go into ANY STATE and do the same thing. We're suing him," Newsom posted on X.

The Civil War was about states' rights, but this isn't.

^tinfoil hat laziness
Tinfoil hat? The police chief works under the mayor. I don’t know if she actually has the ability to fire him, but could certainly make his life a living hell with budget cuts, etc if she wished.

Laziness? Congratulations. You went almost two hours without getting insulting. A new personal best?

It is irrelevant... because none of y'all take him seriously...
Wow. That's your measure of relevancy.
The entire state of California is dismissed with a generalization about edibles in favor of the handful of conservative opinions here who buy that. Sure.

As I said the code is the US Code, which applies to all states by definition. His order doesnt expand the existing code as Newsom asserts.

That qualifies as an insult? And you call liberals snowflakes lol.
It's been at least a couple weeks, for the record, despite having all kinds of insults thrown at me in the same timeframe, which I am not whining about and wouldn't even mention if you hadn't posted something so inaccurate.

Gov Christie of NJ expresses gratitude toward President Obama over his response to Hurricane Sandy and he's a turncoat forever after, but Gov Newsome and Mayor Bass are clearly just being political when they disagree w/ President Trump's decision to send in the National Guard because they put politics over the good of their constituents. And anyone who agrees with them only does so because they have to. Do you not see how stupid and hypocritical you sound when you say things like that?

You also said you weren't saying this was the same thing as when LBJ sent them to Alabama, yet here you are pretending it's strictly about the code, the code, the code and all about whether our President technically has the right while ignoring the specific use of the right.

Like I said, y'all equivocate as a bad faith excuse.

Calling someone lazy and saying soneone sounds stupid may be normalized in your world, but most people take offense. Google it. We could have some great conversations on this board.
It’s a shame you alienate everyone.

Two weeks? Try five days.
Oh, yeah. Then there's @Dahntay#1 , who I did defend myself against after he attacked me repeatedly. Mea culpa. Proportionately, 2 weeks is way closer to 5 days than 2 hours. If you'd looked at what I was responding to, or addressed how pathetic it is to call "tin foil hat laziness" name-calling or rudeness or what-have-you, we could ignore the little boys and move on.

I didn't call you lazy. I referred to what you said as laziness. Saying that your words which you said sound stupid isn't calling you stupid.
You're not even going to dispute that y'all are the snowflakes, huh?
Gee, couldn't be any other explanation for why the only regular liberal on the thread -- whose writing ability is acknowledged as amazeballs by everyone here -- alienates everyone. Couldn't be that y'all can't handle stepping outside of your echo chamber or hearing any perspective other than your own.

Oh, look! You successfully changed the subject to me when you couldn't defend our President's deployment of the National Guard.

Oh, look! You changed the subject from your own shortcomings ( least favorite topic) to how evil President Trump is ( favorite of all time). Bravo! You’re getting the hang of it!
Gold star! You probably don’t give out gold stars, because it might hurt someone’s feelings, but trust me they’re a good thing.
Iirc I didn’t address whether he should have deployed the Guard, only that he had the authority to do so.

We got along fine with Th0r most of the time, because he was respectful and civil by and large. He def provided perspectives similar to your own, but in a more respectful, less confrontational way. So nah couldn’t be that.

Sounds pretty ignorant on Trump's end. I am confused though. If they hadn't yet arrived, and the unrest had been under control before they were even on the scene, how could the deployment of the national guard be blamed for the unrest?

Then there's Gavin Newsom posting pictures of Troops in Afghanistan from 2021 during the potato's disastrous evacuation of Kabul, sleeping on the floor and piled on top of each other and saying that it was from California yesterday because Trump sent all those troops to California with nowhere to sleep and nothing to eat.

Are we going to call him out for fake news?

Watching local news out of Cali...I GOT SNEAKERS AND A TV FROM THIS STORE...THAT WILL SHOW THEM!

They are also dumping boxes of masks in the street so people can use them to hide their faces, probably just worried about covid though. Pallets of bricks have also been placed in the area but I'm sure that's just for a new building.

Just repeating, no source. But it would make sense for this to be true. According to Homan, ICE was serving arrest warrants for several businesses in L.A. for allegedly laundering money for the cartels and suspected of human trafficking. Not just randomly rounding up immigrants. I say it would make sense for this to be true, because the cartels have a lot of influence and could have ordered its members to start violent clashes and chaos. These "demonstrations" are never organic.

It’s politics by the left. The leaders out there don’t want to hurt their voting base. They look compassionate to immigrants. But this is a lot more than that. Blaming Trump is the only thing they have.

The National Guard wouldn’t be needed if it was peaceful. It’s that simple.

Yup . What the media portrays as justified anger is usually orchestrated and performative. A sh- show yes, but not an organic one.
Itd only make sense to go after small fish after all the big ones have been caught. If ICE is rounding up construction workers as in Tallahasee a while back, it’s likely these businesses are owned by the cartels through various shell companies is what I’m hearing. Go ahead and grind operations to a halt while they get their paperwork in order and hope some of the small fish start singing in the meantime

And next the Marines. No problem with that at all, huh? I mean, if citizens don’t want their own Armed Forces used domestically, they shouldn’t be such lib’ruls, huh?

In general, not organic. Organized as part of a broader objective. That’s not to say that no one there is angry. I’m sure most of them are quite angry and unhappy about life in general. Most of the protester class are underemployed if at all and are desperate for a purpose

There are many non citizens in these unruly crowds fighting the federal government against lawfully deporting criminal aliens. I don't agree with the use of the marines. But I sure as hell am not going to ignore the actions of people interfering with the deportation of people who shouldn't be in this country.

That sounds like you’re already justifying Marines killing people in the streets of an American city, as long as it’s a lib’rul city run by Democrats.

Why are you spelling liberal that way all of a sudden? Is that similar to when you do the alternating lower case/ upper case thing, which tells us without telling us that you’re on the brink of an “ episode”?
