if you guys don’t want these basketball threads to get hijacked into political arguments perhaps you could refrain from launching grenades into the discussion.
Yo at this time there is no safe place from any of the “political” bs. It’s everywhere and going to be everywhere for a while! I turn on the PS4 to play a game online and the first thing that pops up is BLM yada yada...1 game in were discussing it. News sports friends commercials public blah blah yada yada EVERYWHERE. Honestly, I think there should be a thread just for it here so EVERY thread doesn’t turn into it ....that’s what I’d do I mean...If you don’t like it you don’t view the thread simple.

I have zero idea what point you are making. Are you agreeing with my request or disagreeing?

Fourteen, what is it that you do?

As for me, I cant speak for the rest of the country, but the hospitals and nursing homes in NYC, Long Island, Westchester County, Rockland County, and my county, Orange County NY were overwhelmed. In spite of some of the best hospitals in the country, people were dropping Like flies. Not political, nothing to do with the media, just lots of people dying and a medical community that was overwhelmed.

Very well stated in terms of respect for the virus. Here in NC numbers are STILL UP HIGHER than they should be in terms of new cases daily. The few people in stores, office buildings, etc WITHOUT face coverings look totally out of place, and are not showing respect for others. This is not blown out of proportion by the media, and not some political conspiracy.I also know Coach K is quite cognizant of COVID. He had national health expert and White House adviser Dr.Tony Faucci on his radio show a month or so ago talking about the seriousness of the virus.

Yep, **** is a mess in northern NJ too. Thankfully we’ve got it slowed down, but it’s still rough. 19,000 cases in my little county. Town next door has lost 75 people. We’ve had maybe eight cases just on my block of 15 houses. And still there are people on local Facebook groups complaining about wearing masks and calling people sheep and screaming about their freedoms. Like... just listen to experts and wear a mask to care for each other for another six months or however long it is until a vaccine shows up. It’s simple. The moment someone starts saying it’s all about an election year or the media, I roll my eyes.

That is good to know. I’ve been a bit worried about NC... glad to know that masks are still being taken seriously in some places. Such an easy, harmless thing to do.

And man, I love K. I love that he goes so far beyond just being a basketball player and is into so much stuff. Really understands, and harnesses, his role as a leader at Duke.

Back to Coach K sitting out while the season goes ahead.

No chance of that happening in my opinion.

Unlike college football, where the ACC is irrelevant except for Clemson which has more of a SEC attitude anyhow, I don't see the basketball season happening if Coach K/Roy/Boeheim can't coach, either because of risk or because their schools have shut down due to the virus coming back. I could easily see the ACC being the first major conference to shut down, like the ACC tournament next year. If the students aren't on campus, the private schools at least, and probably the public schools also, won't play basketball.

If Duke/UNX/UVA/Syracuse, etc. can't play this coming year, ESPN will have very little interest in broadcasting the season. The NCAA won't play the season without the ACC.

Was it a duplicate thread? If so, I didn’t see one and apologize for the duplicity.

Q, i locked it up. It had been posted before and it got extremely political within 5 posts. Therefor that thread was deleted. You posted it again (rightly so) but in an effort to nix the political bickering and name calling i locked it before it could get started. My apologies, but right now with sensitivities at all time highs, being asked not to promote or post political things on this board, and with the countless Folks that have been driven off, is why i locked it. It didn’t have anything to do with you.

"Black lives matter... This is not a political statement. It's a human rights statement."
Datt, thank you for your contribution. It was the regurgitating talking points and yelling passed one another on both sides that immediately followed the posting of Ks remarks.

What are some names that would ring.

We already have the Capitals , Wizards and the Nationals and going back the Senators was used once. How about the Potomacs? I know it is a tribe of Native Americans but I don't see it as being offensive but then again I am not Native American. OFC

I believe that the Redskins owner, Daniel Snyder, is Jewish. A name respecting his faith might garner some favorable publicity. Maybe the Washington Prophets?

D.C. Athletic
Washington United (using Washington to differentiate from the MLS team)
Washington D.C. NFT (National Football Team) or AFT (American Football Team) (do we really need nicknames?)

Well its common knowledge majority of americans think Washington is filled with crooked politicians. The name thus has to be The Washington Crooks. Any win by the Crooks of course will be tainted, as opponents will say they were "ROBBED!"

This is a very underrated comment. Well done.

A name change is long overdue. Maybe the Warriors. Snyder is only changing the name because he has to as sponsers are pulling out.

How about the Washington Fallen Monuments? We could get Antifa to sing the National Anthem. They could do it from their knees, wearing masks.
Are you seriously complaining about removing a name that is incredibly offensive to a group of people who are not just Americans but have roots here that go back to before the Dutch and English set foot here?

I am about as far from a “snowflake” as it gets.. but for many years I’ve wondered how the hell the “Redskins” is still a NFL team name.. I’m actually surprised it wasn’t changed before I was born in the 80’s..

Imagine the hypocrisy of the NFL playing the “Black National Anthem” before a week one game this season where one of the teams playing is named the “Redskins”..

That’s like insulating your house walls but not having a roof on the house.

Can we not use the term "snowflake"? It is clearly an insult designed to dismiss anyone who holds a different view from Trump. It is also incorrect to apply it to the left, as all the right does is whine about how poorly they are treated.

Sorry.. I put it in “” because it would get my point across and I wasn’t sure what other word I could put there.. I don’t necessarily associate “snowflake” with non-trump supporters.. I see it being used a lot by both parties when the opposite side is upset about something..

I support neither party, so I didn’t intend for it to be a liberal/democrat insult.

Washington Bullets.
I actually never thought of that.. it’s crazy how they changed the Bullets name but didn’t think to change the Redskins, and both are in the same district.
