From Historian Heather Cox Richardson:
Today’s overarching story is connected to this one. It is the same as yesterday’s big story, and the day before that, reaching on backward until the 2020 election. Republican Party leaders continue to insist, without evidence, that former president Donald Trump won the 2020 election and that Democrats stole it from him through voter fraud. A new Reuters/Ipsos found that six in ten Republicans believe this Big Lie.

This falsehood has been rejected by bipartisan election officials and the courts, including the Supreme Court, but in 43 states Republican legislators are using it to justify election laws that will make it significantly harder to vote.

Those new laws have met with significant pushback, leaving Republicans scrambling to argue that the laws actually make it easier to vote, not harder. This is not true. Former Wall Street Journal correspondent Douglas Blackmon wrote a tremendously clear thread on Twitter spelling out how the Georgia law, for example, makes it illegal for Georgia voting officials to send absentee applications to each voter, and makes it harder to get absentee ballots. It eliminates most drop boxes for ballots, as well, and makes it harder for working people to vote. Blackmon says the law’s “intent seems to be causing much longer & slower lines at the polls, which… will mean large numbers of working class, elderly, and sick voters who just give up and go home.”

Hardly an unbias source...you couldnt find a further left "historian"...well maybe Nikole Hannah Jones. Its equivalent to quoting Cuomo on Nursing Home safety. As for the GA voting law, pretty much proven that the talking points against it have no credence since it goes further in all areas to expand the vote. Even Sleepy Joe got 4 Pinocchios from the Washington Post! That takes some doing. Out.

I went to a Duke game a few years ago, and had to pick up my tickets from the Will Call booth. I felt so discriminated against that I had to show my ID as proof of who I was. Those racists bastards of Duke should be ashamed of themselves.

The other libs are just ignorant, but @durhamgolfer is just a hateful, miserable person. And her candidate won! I can't imagine how bad she'd be if Trump would have won.

Right, comparing picking up tix at a basketball game, where without some id check you KNOW that someone would try to steal from you, is exactly the same as the constitutional right of voting where there is no evidence of fraud. Republicans are having a meltdown over a vaccine pass but no big deal to show id when voting. I had stopped posting for a while but had to weigh in when I saw the crap about voter fraud that was circulating on this thread. I am going back on hiatus so Mac you will have to point your vitriol at someone else.

Problem is whenever dems win an election you’re always going to say there’s no evidence of voter fraud Kind of like in cook county Ill in 1960 If there’s massive evidence of voter fraud I mean like overwhelming evidence like oj killed someone or hunter biden is a massive crackhead tool. You’ll always say I hate America No voter fraud Jim Crow. Hoping everyone curls into the fetal position and lets you throw your little play school temper tantrum. The rest of the world is either laughing at you or completely sick of it!!

Exactly Her socialist agenda is coming to fruition. Free speech is being crushed, except in this tiny corner of cyberspace. Coca Cola and delta. Evil multi national corporations are on her side causing events to move out of Georgia and yet she is so so angry. Will she ever be satisfied?

What a nice thing to say. Btw, I can say exactly the same thing about you, Mac, Ghost and Topp. You talk about the attack on free speech while at the same time insulting people who espouse view points different from your own. Anyway, carry on.

We’re disagreeing with you. Maybe I was rude but I have no interest in harming your career or affecting your life in anyway. But your side wants to destroy the lives and careers of anyone who disagrees with them. Teachers and government officials have actually been fired for questioning the Marxist leanings of some Black Lives Matter founders. Do you support this? Don’t lecture me about free speech

Plenty of teachers have been fired for wearing tee shirts showing their support for BLM as well. So you support this? I hope not.

You regurgitate BS talking points and agenda driven narratives without providing any original opinions. Your hypocrisy is on a politician's level. You won't comment on Cuomo whether it be his terrible handling of the virus or his sexual misconduct with multiple women. Even though you were singing his praises all last year. You hated seeing children in cages 3 years ago, but not a peep from you on how terrible pedo Joe is handling the current crisis that he created. So as expected, libs just pretend to care about people as long as it contributes to the undermining of the republican party. Construction on the wall is set to be continued btw. Lol.

You are just one person but a part of an ideology that cultivates victimhood and designed to divide the country through a smoke and mirrors campaign. And what's sad is the fact that you don't see that you are nothing more than a sheep hiding within a herd of millions of other sheep being manipulated by a harmless yet powerful sheepdog. The republican base has no shortage of sheep and blind followers. But the left's desire to divide and conquer by cramming social issues introduced in a false manner and their base blindly supporting is what will lead to our ultimate demise.

Leave her alone, she’s more interested in real issues, like transgenders not having accessible restrooms, and why it’s all good that Bob became Barb.

Just like on the mainboard. Liberals continually claim to be going on a hiatus but don't. And they always avoid discussing things that hurt their identity. Just stick to misguided and unfruitful talking points while ignoring the actual topics that affect lives.

Without voter Id anyone can send in a mail in ballot without penalty. Whether they can then go vote in person varies from state to state but very few votes were thrown out in 2020 The lowest rejection rate in decades. Inconvenient truth sorry
Thanks...but i find it difficult to think that your mail in gets counted and you can go in person and they both count..

Quit peddling poison. “What else is going on in this country”. I can only imagine. So only people who vote Democrat don’t have ids. Yet they somehow sign rental agreements, apply for jobs, drive cars, buy alcohol and cigarettes, apply for food stamps and Medicaid. But they somehow can’t vote because they don’t have an id. Riiiight
Unless I am wrong, you are right, all those scenarios for the most part, you have to have an ID absolutely....i think this ID issue may be more focused towards the elderly and their abilities to procure and have people to assist...sucks for some of them in that situation but definitely an issue...

Also aren't signatures on record to obtain this in the first place matched with the signature on the mail in and observed and decided upon by both a dem and rep representative???

A record low of Georgia ballots were thrown out this last election due to signature verification. So much lower that it has raised serious questions about the integrity of the last election. In theory you’re exactly right, but it was a relatively small number of ballots due to questionable signatures. It’s kind of like when most of us sign our names after a credit card purchase. It’s chicken scratch and I’ve never once gotten a call from discover. Once I wrote one letter with my left hand to see if they would call and they didn’t. It’s all a farce

Georgia seems to be the topic of conversation, so if that is the state you're talking about, Georgia's signature-related rejection rate was actually the same in 2020 as it was in 2018 (0.15%). Those rates were lower than in 2016 (0.24%), but that is hardly a significant difference.

On the whole, it seems that absentee ballot rejection usually has little to do with identification issues, as is evidenced by the number of signature rejections in Georgia vs the overall rejected number. The fact that so many mail-in ballots were submitted early in 2020 (which allowed for incorrectly-completed ballots to be caught, returned and fixed rather than be disqualified as in previous years) and that many states were proactive in addressing mail-in ballot issues appear to be what contributed to the decreased number of rejected ballots among states that made such records public over the past three election cycles.

This article mentions a teacher in Texas who was fired for wearing a Black Lives Matter mask. It also mentions another teacher who was placed on administrative leave for, from what I can gather, displaying a BLM graphic as a background while conducting a class via zoom. While maybe not "plenty," as was earlier stated, it provides proof of it happening. There might be other instances but I haven't researched further.

While not teachers, below are some examples of people in other lines being fired for wearing BLM apparel:

There were many more examples, but it seems like this adequately shows people have lost their jobs for wearing BLM apparel and/or masks over the past year.

Now do the all lives matter.

I didn't know that was what was being asked. It seemed to me the requested information was about people, specifically teachers, being fired for wearing BLM apparel.

Since you asked, though, I did the exact same searches as earlier, but subbed "All," for "Black." I went through several pages and found no articles about people losing their jobs for wearing All Lives matter clothing or masks. I did find these, though:

In the past you've always expressed disdain for stupid people, so I'm sure you have no sympathy for a fire chief who lost his job for being dumb enough to wear a shirt that read "All Lives Splatter," with an image depicting protesters getting run over on it.

The above article is interesting that the guy who lost his job was in training and claims to have worn the shirt while other members of his class were wearing shirts that state, "Police Lives Matter."

These examples are teachers proselytizing while in an official employment related capacity. Indoctrinating a captive audience thus angering many parents Therefore violating existing standards and moral terpitude clauses in their conteact. Conservatives have been fired for posts on their social media accounts while off duty. A huge difference

Thanks for a good post I should have been clearer in my earlier post. But I was referring to educators being fired for social media posts while off duty that questioned sone planks of the BLM platform. Making political statenents while on the job is a direct contractual violation in sone school districts Parents likely called the school boards who caved like they always do.
