Don, my guess is that the other teams are better prepared for it
and they are really focused on stopping it. They know that the
players feed off those plays and it makes UK even better.

And our guards are having a hard time with the decision to lob or to take it strong to the hole. Andrew just needs to go strong to the hole if he and Willie or one of the other big guys are not on the same page.

Dakari was cleared out on one of the lobs and drew a foul. Looked like they indeed game planned to not allow it. Don't blame them.

Don we had a couple in the 1st half: one to WCS and another to Dakari.
Teams are really starting to take away the player going for the lob by bodying them away from the basket.
WCS was able to draw a foul during a play like that late in the 2nd half.

I think this is why Cal is wanting the guards to finish strong because defenses are cheating on the lob.

I notIced against UL and Ole Miss , that when our guys penetrated , instead of their defense committing to the man with ball , they are finding our bigs and putting a body on them . Our guards will have to start taking and making those floaters in the lane .

WCS supplied some nice dunks though.

Until Andrew starts making shots on penetration that is how we will be played. Dakari missed a easy one on pass from Booker. Couldn't tell on TV if pass was bad or DJ just missed it

I'm missing that back door lob against the zone to Lyles. Seemingly always works.

Yeah, something like that. Be prepared for two months of league "let's see how far we can go" defense

Andrew has to hit the runner and make them pay. Again last night he had it in the lane and he did the right thing by throwing the lob but other teams are tackling the big before he hits the air or they under cut them once they are up. WCS went to the foul line and missed in the crunch. We needed that easy 2. Drew hits the runner they will collapse on him more.

We tried to run it numerous times last night. Defenses are taking it away.

Like others have touched on teams are staying home on drives and making Andrew and Tyler be scorers to beat them...so its been taken away in the half court.

However we aren't attacking off misses and pushing it either in transition. Sometimes we are too content to walk it up when we should be pushing and attacking. Transition baskets should be more of our offense than it is... Tyler and Andrew need to push it and attack earlier on makes and misses....that's were the lob can be most effective IMO...also creates more second chances on the glass when you attack a defense that's not set.

I'd rather our big guys consistently make good, strong, quick post moves with the ball. It's not as exciting, but it's proven and works more often if you're good at it. Right now we aren't.

Need to lob when it's there for us.....not when it isn't. Don't like the passing up of 6 footers in the lane to throw a lob into traffic that was never there

The lob has to be reactive play not preconceived, other coaches have taught their players to body the bigs on the block, if the guards start finishing their shots eventually the lob will open back up

I think other teams are just guarding it well, because they know we will run all over them if they don't. there was a play against ole miss where we had a good set up for one i think it was andrew, willie and dakari 3 on 1, he chose to throw it back to dakari for the lay in which was a better decision imo.

sonnyg is right, hence the 11 three's last night.guards have to hit the little floater in the lane to open up the lob.
