Welcome back sportsfans!
Here's your old, original, authentic, accept-no-substitutes Chicago Catholic League thread.
Hopefully we won't lose any more bodies to migration (both out-of-state and brain-skull), else we'll all be playing 8-man next year.
In keeping with the current Zeitgeist, I'll refrain from using names which might offend the snowflakes of our boards.
Using the Calpreps Predict-a-tron 2000. Amazing the ability of the thing.
As always, you're picking against the spread (all assume neutral field). Gotta keep it interesting.

Marist has to be considered the favorite. Losing Dunne and the starting QB from last year though has to hurt. Definitely will be a low scoring game.

I would like to think this game would be much closer than 46-3. I know IC is very good, but Mac is no slouch - especially at home.

Just can't see Marist putting up 38 on Rice unless they get a lot of turnovers. Overall I think it will still be a good game - gonna come down to whether the Rice QB can complete some passes to keep the Marist secondary back instead of rolling up.

Trib article said Loyola starting QB out for first 3 games along with a key WR. Phillips game might be closer than expected

LA @ Phillips - Roseland Stadium [2017] Loyola Academy (Wilmette, IL) 44, [2017] Phillips [Wendell] (Chicago, IL) 7

This will be closer than 37 points - maybe 10

SJ @ EP [2017] St. Joseph (Westchester, IL) 21, [2017] Elmwood Park (IL) 17

Upset alert, Elmwood Park wins

AC @ ACC [2017] Aurora Central Catholic (Aurora, IL) 28, [2017] Aurora Christian (Aurora, IL) 22

I have Beebe's boys winning this

Bowen @ F [2017] Fenwick (Oak Park, IL) 62, [2017] Bowen (Chicago, IL) 0

Fenwick won't run it up this much

7 starters will not play against Phillips in week 1: RB1, QB1, 2WR's, D1 O-lineman (Gross) and 2 additional starters. LA may be in trouble the first couple of weeks, but I can assure you that no one will want to see them in the playoffs.

Benet @ St Laurence will be closer than that. I would bet the under on that game, tough to imagine a 31-19 score with both teams starting new QBs. Benet basically replaces entire o-line and backfield on offense. I will take Benet head up, but if the spread is 12 I will take St. Laurence and the points. Both teams' strengths are defense. First one to 14 may win unless defenses score or set-up easy scores with turnovers.

How many games is Thomas slated to miss for MC? Who will start at QB in meantime
Assuming he makes the USA Baseball 18U team, their tournament will be September 1-10. That would mean he would be out the 1st 3 games.

I believe they play at their field at Altgeld Park, overlooking the Congress Expressway, near Washtenaw. (Do yourself a favor and read the history of the namesake of the park - plenty of parallels to our current day.)

I hear Marist QB may be better then last years. We will just have to wait and see. A lot of RedHawk fans wanted to see more Markett and less Taylor last season.

Don't forget the mandatory 12 days of practice before a contest[
Puts him on schedule to be back in week 5 vs SR. Should be 3-1 at worst when he returns. Tough back half with SR, BR, DLS, PC & Montini. Have to find 2 wins in those 5 to make playoffs.

Holy crap. Why are they not playing? That many injuries from camp/practice? LA could really be in trouble week 1. That will mess up the playoff seeding lol ;)

The injuries are legit. Broken bones and soft tissue. Most ( but not all ) will be back within the first month but you know, even the Patriots would have a rough go of it if you take out their star players. On top of it, they are replacing a lot of guys this year and team chemistry will need to be developed. That's why football is a great game - you never know until they play.

I'm taking:
Crusades and the 17 points, should be a great game.
Caravan, although it's difficult to rack up points at SF.
'Rocks over 'Stangs, debut of new coach.
Flyers, giving the points vs the Celts.
Phillips and the points over the Ramblers. It was a biology demonstration, you blue-nose science deniers.
Cadets, giving the points. Firebirds lost their opener 60-0 last year.
Meteors, giving the points, over the Vikes.
Broncs "off the board" The only way Hyde Park returns for 2nd half is to pick up their check.
Friar "off the board" (see above)
Argonauts and the points.
Chargers, giving the points vs the Iggles.
Vikes, taking the points - this should be a very good game.
King outscored opponents 464-60 last year, with 8 shutouts. Smart money's on Generals.
TP and the points.
TECH in a blowout.
Injuns.
Chargers.
