Congrats to all those who survived Pigskin-Palooza on the Southside last weekend. Truly historic. We should do this every year.
Loyola fans should be looking forward to their trip (almost as long as New Lenox on a Friday night) - which, aside from Ireland, may be the furthest the Ramblers have rambled from home for a game.

We'll let Rock-a-billy Soup set the Official CCL Line for the games.

8A:
(6) Wilmette (Loyola Academy) (11-1) vs (26) Edwardsville (H.S.) (9-3)
Sat 11/18 Edwardsville (H.S.) 2 pm

7A:
(18) Chicago (Mt. Carmel) (9-3) vs (3) Lake Zurich (12-0)
Sat 11/18 Lake Zurich 1 pm

6A:
(2) LaGrange Park (Nazareth Academy) (11-1) vs (13) New Lenox (Providence Catholic) (8-4)
Sat 11/18 New Lenox (Providence Catholic) 2 pm

Prep Bowl:
St. Ignatius High School (9-3) vs Fenwick High School (7-4)
Fri 11/17 Kiddieland (Triton College) 7 pm

Semi-Final Week! And like I said last week when I picked my Mustangs over the Bears of Lake Zurich, if they're going down, then I'm going down with them. And down I went, posting an embarrassing 1-4 ATS. But it's a new week, same rules as last week, WIN OR GO HOME! (rules might be interpreted differently down in Madison County). Massey in Bold, calpreps in italics, consensus underlined, line given from CCL team view, unless two CCL teams, the line will be from the favorite's view.

Sorry Dean. I see the clock striking midnight on MC's cinderella run. LZ is no joke. MC has overachieved to make it this far.

I don't think MC overachieved, I think MC is playing MC football. What they are doing is very similar to MS last year. Best players are on the field playing MC football.

Pains me to say, but MC is the New York Yankees of high school football. As a Catholic Leaguer, I hope they win it

Dean:

I tend to believe the above quote is from one of the films in the Karate Kid franchise. I never saw any of the films, nor do I plan to, but I am happy to recommend some quality alternatives if you are looking to broaden your selection of motion pictures for leisure.

I will not recommend Platoon, JFK or Fury. Furthermore, if documentaries pique your interests, I wouldn't suggest Ken Burns' The Vietnam War. It sucked.

Besides, Cobra Kai gives off a vibe closer to MCs usual opponents in the semis or title game.

I don't know, MWitt. The fact that you got the reference suggests you did see the movie. Maybe you are just embarrassed to admit it? Maybe you and Dean have similar tastes in "films".

Hahaha.......Okay, I did see parts of the original Karate Kid.

However, I did walk out of Platoon and Fury and I maintain Ken Burns' The Vietnam War sucked. Fortunately for me, to lodge a protest against Burns' misleading crap, all I needed to do was turn off the television.

Dang! I learned not to bet against this MC team. The way the LA fans on here are so worried about the bus ride south, -17.5 seems a bit much. If LA covers that spread, I'm picking them next weekend too.

I don't know much about Edwardsviile outside of what has been on this thread. Without the benefit of checking them out on tape, my prediction is based solely as a vote of confidence on the Ramblers and their coaching staff;

LA 38 - ED 14.

Team don't prove me wrong. Onward and Upward! AMDG.

Well it's Thursday, that means I'm over here at the American Legion wondering where Barb went so I can get a Boilermaker. Figured it would be a good way of honoring the Vets, while also honoring the Purdue crowd that shook up the Catholic League: the Jardines and Erlenbaugh all came out of that crowd.

Tomorrow night over by Kiddieland, the Friars host the Wolfpack for the right to represent the League in the Prep Bowl. The suburban boys are the favorites, and Iggy has never been. Figure I'll take the Jebbies, since they can take the 12th Street Line right to the stadium.

Ah, there we go. Thanks, Barb. Mmmm, she pours a mean one.

Now about that Providence versus Nazareth game. Gotta tell you, I thought someone was pulling my leg when I heard about this one, but apparently Nazareth Academy admits boys now. No joke. You could look it up. Was a time when a fella got outta the service and a stop over there off Ogden came right after droppin' your dufflebag with Ma. Times have changed. Gonna take the Celtics here, suckers are giving 6 points. Listen to me: take that cash and head over to Sportsman's stand behind the Greek and listen in when he goes to the window.

Next, I hear the Carmel guys are heading way up to Lake Zurich for their game. Supposedly got a real randy bunch up there. Hard to pick against this new guy who replaced Lord, and I ain't gonna start, not with them paying ya two touchdowns to do so.

Lastly, the Ramblers head all the way down to Edwardsville. Pretty sure that town was on the Missorah side before the flood. Oh, well, maybe we can give them back the east half of Saint Looie in return. Way I see it, those traincars are so cramped, it'll take a half to get the blood flowing right again and if that cross-eyed fella is throwin' his hanky ... can't see escaping those folks with more than a few points. Friendly folk, but they'll stab ya sooner than sell ya a drink down there.

Well, Barb just informed me with my last round that she's havin' one of the kids who served in Da Nang, drive the El Dorado home for me tonight, so looks like we're going take a spin on the Jukebox. Time to put on some Carl Perkins and get this place hoppin'!

LA 35 E'Ville 21 One good thing about a long road trip is that it allows the visiting team plenty of time to focus on the business at hand. LA will need to play all 4 quarters and limit the Tigers' big play ability.

LZ 27 MC 20 MC needs first downs and keep the LZ O on the sidelines something SR couldn't do last week against the Bears. LZ has had zero close games this year save the Warren game. The Caravan have to get this game into the 4th quarter within one score to pull the upset.

PC 38 Naz 35 I think both teams have the fire power to hit paydirt early and often. Hard to tell where Naz is with that debacle at the hands of Marist but I can write that off as some games get out of your control and thoughts move quickly to the next week. So if the Celts look too much into that game and forget they are playing one of the state's top programs, Naz can sneak out of New Lenox with a win.

SICP 11 Fenwick 8 the consensus O/U is 36. Give me the Wolfpack, the points and the under.

First lets take a look at my previous predictions and the actual results so far:

Mount Carmel 51 Moline 10 (52-7)
Mount Carmel 42 Normal 7 (14-13)
Mount Carmel 21 East St. Louis 14 (21-18)

I have predicted 5 of the 6 individual team scores within 6 points. The level of accuracy I have shown has probably never been seen on this board before.

Coach Lenti signs a 25 year contract extension in the locker room after the game.

Mount Carmel 21 Lake Zurich 20

Go Blue! Would not be surprised if the Caravan spring the upset, but what LZ did to the Mustang last week has made me a believer.

Loyola by 14 - Know little about Edwardsville.
Lake Zurich by 14 - No slight to MC LZ a home is tough nut
Providence by 8 played the whole year under the radar

Bonus: Morris by 17 SR played them twice. Like the team and their fans. Kind of adopted on small school team.

Hoping for Feeto's Friday Upset Special today. Let's go Blue!!!

LA- game may be closer than expected. The injuries on the offensive side of the ball are substantial. Some guys out and several others are gonna give it a go but who knows how long they'll hold up. Defensively, running/dual threat QBs have always been like kryptonite to the D. The LBs will need to have huge games and force Eville into long passing situations.

Provi- just think they are the more discipline team and that goes a long way this time of year against the young, talented Naz group. Fewest mistakes wins.

MC- I'm thinking either LZ comes out firing on all cylinders and wins big or MC plays physical, smart MC football AND protects the ball, gives LZ a 12 round heavyweight fight and pulls off the upset. Heart is with MC, head says LZ D may force a costly TO or two.

Friar over Iggy. Iggy in the Prep Bowl just sounds wierd.

This rain and wind may be a blessing for LA. It may force them to try and establish the run ( which I think they'll be able to do) thus keeping the Edwardsviile offense off the field. Chess game.

So far this year Edwardsville's defense against the run has been pretty solid. It's their defense against the pass that has been absolutely atrocious and what opposition has exploited. They were better against Minooka last weekend, but that's still E'Ville's greatest weakness. The kids are small and short.

LA's RB is a freshman. Tons of injuries. The Ramblers will be lucky to get out of Edville with a W.
