Three weeks into the season and it seems that "numbers" (a combination of concussion hysteria and the pussification of the American male) is the theme of the year, causing forfeits and blowouts, which lead to conference-hopping. I'm reminded of this quote:

“We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Abolition of Man

Somehow I don't think all those guys in Houston (the Cajun Navy et al) quit football in high school.
That's the way I see it, and I'm Len O'Connor.

Make your picks against the spread.

gonna be a tall order for MC to go into Wilmette Saturday with Bo Jackson not back from baseball yet. Just looking for special teams and the defense to perform well.

What do you think of MC's non-con schedule? Not having Thomas is huge against LA, but playing two CPS teams does not exactly prepare MC for the Ramblers. I can see one CPS team, but two?

Let us start the Blue season that should be more wide open than years past, with a quote from former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld:

"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things we know we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."

If Team USA loses Friday, does Thomas play Saturday?

Just one man's opinion but if this kid is a first or second round baseball draft pick he should hang up the football spikes. It's great if he helps win a championship but what if he gets a knee injury?

He will be back for Rita. u need 12 practice days . he has 3 from the summer that apply so he will practice week of DePaul and SR and can play at Rita.

Not being argumentative on this point. Be great if he plays four years of college ball and then plays MLB. His options have changed since he made this national baseball team. He may not be going to TCU if he’s a 1st rounder.

How well has the backup played in the first two games at QB? Does he play QB or RB when he comes back. The LA game may show MC’s needs changed.

Tough to tell how well the backup has played since the two games were weak. This week will show just how the team looks without him.

I know it's a great opportunity to be drafted high and play MLB someday. But Joe Mauer played HS football his senior year and was the consensus #1 pick in MLB. I'm sure others have done the same. I think he will play football starting week 5 with SR. Should be nice to have him back and hopefully he returns with a Gold Medal for Team USA

I am not sure what will happen but his situation with TCU only increases his bargaining power.

Working upwards . . .
Taking the wife's alma mater, Maria, and the 28 on the Chargers.
Mighty Mighty L-E-O and the 30 over Hope.
Wolves playing angry, cover the 17 on TECH.
Vikes, giving the 15 points.
Broncs over Friars in what should be best game of the weekend.
Benton Harbor over the Meteors just on the basis of their coach, former Navy and Western Michigan head coach, Elliot Uzelac. (from his wiki bio: Uzelac is known for his temper and intensity and has had a history of coronary artery disease that has led to multiple surgical procedures.) LINK
Spartans get 28 on the Cadets. Watch them disappoint me.
'Stangs and their speed over Celts in the Tolle Lege Bowl.
From '01 to present, MC leads the series 10-9. (Prior to that, MC rolled back to '84 (no game '91, '92)). Unfortunately, LA will be without their odd-numbered players this week, as they're all injured (broken ribs). LA will win, but won't cover.
BR will not only win and cover the 10, the AC fans will donate their spare phones, watches, spot them a twenty and give them a decent meal before heading home.

That is the thing. Thomas literally has an inside track to an MLB team. While not a first round pick for them they could assure him what they think. This is not some kid that has to rely on third party conversations and what not. His father can walk into an office down the hall from his and get a clear understanding of where his son fits in the MLB draft world. He just played with some of the top young players in the world with Turang being talked about being number 1 overall pick next summer.

If he is thought to be a 1st or 2nd round pick, I'm not sure I'd come back to play football.

I also don't think QB is a good idea. If he thinks TCU football is in the cards that will be at DB and that is where he should play.

I would think that the MC team would welcome him back but that is another question.

Ignazio - your comment on the AC fans strikes me as humorous, but not sure how you formulated that perspective. Do tell...

BR by 14 - They are hungry and need a win.

MC by 1 - Always a battle and close game. Wish I could go watch this one.

SR/PC is a toss up for me. Rita seems to have some momentum right now, so I want to give them the edge, but PC is at home. Providence also has their backs against the wall starting 0-2. Things to keep in mind are that this is Providence's 50th year of football anniversary game. The place should be packed and there will be a lot of pressure to perform. The way things have went for PC lately I feel like as soon as something goes bad for them in recent games, it snowballs and they lose control. I'll say Provi keeps it together, keeps playoff hopes alive, and wins by 3.

Is the SR PC game a pick'em? I mean the title for the 'Whose line is it anyway ' is Hoedowns and Irish drinking songs.

Hoedowns can refer to a night at the Mustang Ranch and obviously Irish drinking songs refers to a celtics normal Tuesday morning. So which one is it HighRep?

I think BR wins big. AC won't run the ball and they haven't seen well coached athletes like BR is going to have. If this was 4 years ago I'd agree but this team isn't that AC team.
