The Path to a Bowl Game

I'm trying to be positive. It is still possible for Kentucky to win 6 games and make it to a bowl game. While I want to be optimistic, we can't reasonably predict wins against Alabama, Georgia or Tennessee. Although Florida looked bad last week, I don't see a victory in the Swamp this year. That leaves us with possible wins against New Mexico State, South Carolina, Vandy, MSU, Mizzou, Austin Peay, and Louisville. New Mexico State and Austin Peay are gimmies. That means we only need to win 3 of 4 against South Carolina, Vandy, MSU, and Mizzou to be sitting on 5 wins going into the Louisville game. Considering that we get South Carolina, Vandy and MSU at home this year, that is a feasible outcome. Going into the Louisville game with 5 wins would at least give us a shot at a bowl.

This is exactly how I see it except I think we lose to MSU and beat Mizzou then head to turdville with 5 wins. With that momentum, I think we can pull it off and upset them. Keep hope alive till it is eliminated!!!

That could very well happen, but, for the last two years in a row, all we had to do was to beat a mediocre Louisville team to go to a bowl, and, despite two big leads, we couldn't do it either time. This year, Louisville, while nowhere near the level that their delusional and obnoxious fans believe, is a step up from Louisville 2014 and 2015. So, that's hardly a good position to be in, at 5-6, going there.

Hey, after UL beats us we can say how moral we are then go to Sunday school class while they prepare for a bowl game. That works right ?

I highly doubt we make a bowl. And the speed Lamar Jackson has I wouldn't be surprised to see another 8 td game from him. We're that bad on D and our scheme is just as bad to boot.

Bowl game, you're talking bowl game after we gave up 34 straight points to So. Miss? After what I saw on Saturday night, I can't honestly say we will beat any team on our schedule. We MIGHT start the season 1-4 and I would not bet on that. I am more than disgusted with Stoops and this entire mess of a FB program. I want to be optimistic but it is getting harder and harder to be. All I heard/read since Spring Ball and into Fall camp was how this team was improved, then they go out and put that kind of product on the field. So. Miss ran right through us, what in the heck are they going to do when a couple of the D-Line starters go down with injuries? This team will have a losing record this season, show no progress and if they buy out Stoops, the program will be right back to square one AGAIN..

Didn't help us the last two years playing against Louisville's backup QB.

Didn't help we had very young players and still do. You guys are hilarious. You can't accept that Joker Phillips ran the football program that Brooks had built into the ground. If you can't accept that fact I can't help you

You are right, Stoops is doing great! Why would anyone be upset with where this program is? Expecting bowl games in year 4 is crazy talk. It is also crazy to think we should hold onto a 25 point lead, I mean there are still some Joker players left.

UK has 2 gimmies and 4 other games with a shot (Mizzou, USC, Vandy and Miss st). UK has no legit shot at UT, Bama, UGA, UF or UL....forget it.

The likelihood of UK sweeping the 4 winnable SEC games (lucky for us 3 are at home) is not overly llikely to happen IMO. But we could outscore those teams if our offense can see Barker really solid in those game and we break Boom loose on ground a bit. So there is a shot IMO...but a razor thing margin for error.

We definitely have a legit chance to beat Mizzou on the road. Mizzou didn't look good at WVU.

We are very lucky that 3 of the 4 winnable conference games are at home. If it wasn't for that schedule luck, I'd say we have no chance at all for a bowl. I agree with you that it is a razor thin margin for error.

Sad but true about the last two years. I still believe we have a puncher's chance to beat Louisville in a shootout.

Yes bud it is crazy talk. You aren't turning this ship that quick in this conference. You want to leave the conference? I am fine with that...Mitch and administration aren't fine with it but 4-5 years isn't enough time to build a winner in this conference at Kentucky

Whatever go be a fan somewhere else.
How about you go sunshine pump somewhere else. We true fans want a reasonable product put on the field. We aren't asking to be bama. We are asking to be competitive and at least go to a bowl game. Under stoops we haven't done it.

With Mizzou's hurry-up game our D will be worn out before half time.

Wasn't EKU a gimmie last year too at this time? With stoops running this circus there is no gimmies on this schedule. We haven't even gotten into injuries yet which will happen. Any shot of a bowl game we had went out the window while giving up 34 straight points. Our boys were just too tired!!

Yes it is!!!!! Brooks had this program competing year 4!!!

You seem forgetful. In season 4 under Brooks we lost to Loserville and fans were immediately calling for Brooks head. We were 3-4 after get waxed by LSU 49-0 and fans wanted him gone!

The team reeled off 4 straight and lost a close game in Knoxville and ended up winning the Music City Bowl.

Stoops is 1 game into year 4 but while I can't stand how we lost Saturday I saw a lot more talent on the field be it young and inexperienced much like Brooks team in 2006. Your post was emotional mine is factual

OK...Stoops get all of this year and we'll see what he comes up with...my guess is now 4-8.

BTW...UL lost 1 game that year and LSU was a top 10 team that year as well. Hardly any comparison to 44 pts and a L to So Miss.

You seem forgetful. We came fighting back in that Louisville game in which many fans became encouraged. Stoops doesn't have come backs, he lets teams come back and win.
