And in today’s world…do NOT use the word “like” in every sentence!! Didn’t happen so much today, but many podcasts are unbearable with the use of “like”
More responding to what public speaking students should know.
That is why we recorded the students. That is when they realize how many "tics" they have ....."Ummm", "Ya Know", "Like" and "OK". Some people use it at the beginning and end of every sentence without notice. Once the kids realize that everyone has some issue, we just saved time in recording by having the kids as human buzzers who went "eeeeeeehhhh" every time some used a "tic" or rocked back and forth at the podium. It became a fun thing because everyone knew they were just trying to make everyone better....not embarrass them. Fine tune the "Look back and forth at the audience while you speak and it turned out the were they best group we ever took to the Governors meetings. Working together worked. They realized that they weren't just the best students there but they were better than 90% of the legislators as well. No tics, No wobbling or swaying, Good eye contact and talk slow and pause at each sentence. What an amazing confidence booster for those kids who went on to run businesses, be salesman and insurance agents and others. Damned proud of that group of kids. Damned proud. The best part was they all realized they were really a team and part of something special. It is so fulfilling when it works. If the first kids felt insulted or picked on....the entire project would have fallen apart. They decided to be a team and it was soooooo fulfilling :)

"Kids" can be great for providing insight. The first time I became aware of Sam Herring was him announcing or podcasting or something when he was probably in elementary school
I enjoyed listening to Sam’s podcast with Jude Swisher.

Shocked to see Jude knock off Meyer Shapiro.

So on Flo Live’s recap of the conference tournaments this weekend, Pyles has Jason Nolf on the show. Great.

However, he also decides to put his son Caleb on the show. Not great. In fact, ridiculous. To have to listen to his obnoxious know-it-all son talk like he has child prodigy like knowledge on college wrestling is a bit much. Especially when Jason is there and being talked over. Really Christian, if you want to showcase this kid, put him on maybe a Rutgers Maryland recap. Not the B10 finals.

So concludes my rant for the day.
You took the time to come to message board to complain about and criticize a literal child lol. Maybe relax a tiny bit

also, "to have to listen," fun fact, no you don't

Basch is pretty good when he's paired with Willie or Cenzo and it's just a natural conversation.

But when he's 1-on-1 with someone else and starts asking questions, Luis Tiant thinks he has a long windup.

At least he’s not a screwball.

Okay guys. I’ll admit to being too harsh on the kid and calling him obnoxious. I do like Christian and his takes on the program. However, if a parent is going to put a young child on an adult (perceived) show of any nature, then the child should be either informative, entertaining, or express opinions the audience enjoys hearing. In my opinion, none of these qualities were met. Again, in MY opinion. If you guys enjoyed it, well good for you.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to call Seyko to see if I can get my five year old grandson on his show. And I need to be getting back to the solarium as they’re probably looking for me.

I have never liked Basch, but I am sure he's a nice guy. It's his cadence. I cannot get used to it and it irks me enough to not enjoy listening to him.

Not criticizing a child, criticizing a parent to put a child in a position to talk over a wrestling legend. Cringe by any measure.

That podcast was later on. Herring was probably in Jr high when that started. Herring announced a tournament or just did interviews for it when he was in elementary school when I first saw him.

The two Pyles did YouTube wrap-ups at least twice during the Big tourney. Caleb came across very knowledgable and many comments requested he do more. Not a single negative comment that I saw. I am sure that factored into his dad putting him on the podcast. My personal opinion is that he pays attention and has a high level of understanding for his age. No reason to criticize a kid.

I just couldn't understand everything he said. Talks a little too fast for my older brain to process.

I am fan of jr Pyles I think he’s funny and knowledgeable. Also it’s cool for Pyles as a father to do something he and his kid bit love.

Seems like something I would see on Hawkeye Report!
Maybe this is the new Hawkeye board 🤷. Attacking kids and all 😂

Attacking kids? It was one child whose parent decided to allow on the conference recap podcast with Jason Nolf. And I did say I was too harsh.

Disclaimer. I like kids. Had a couple. Got a grandson. Here’s what I don’t like. Parents and grandparents who allow their kids to be part of the “Look at me” mentality that is now so prevalent.

My point was and is he offered nothing to the show. Except to be cute so everyone (but apparently me) could fawn over him. Here’s my question to all you self-righteous folks. Give me one (and I repeat ONE) thing about wrestling you learned from Caleb Pyles. Keep in mind my perception of your wrestling intelligence depends on the answer.

Tom, feel free to delete this thread anytime you would like.
