The question has to be asked

I am very happy we beat South Carolina. I thought we were pretty solid on both sides of the ball. So the question has to be asked. Why haven't we seen the energy and the same passion the first 3 games? Had we I think we beat Southern Miss and play Florida closer.

Maybe last week Stoops was just knocking off the rust trying to call a game as DC. Maybe this week he was able to interject like he needs to as DC. Maybe we just have SC's number and they suck. Maybe the team is growing up and responding better. Who knows? I like it.

Or maybe SC is just a little more offensively challenged than UK's other opponents to date...

USM: #31 TO 484 YPG (520 yds vs. UK)
FL: #51 TO 450 YPG (564 yds vs, UK)
NMSU: #67 TO 423 YPG (500 yds vs. UK)
SC: #124 TO 283 YPG (268 yds vs. UK)

Anyway, important thing is it is now in the WIN column. A 2-2 record means a bowl game is still in play. A loss Saturday would have realistically ended any chance at a 6 win season. JMO

Peace

Apparently we needed a putdown from Lee Corso to motivate our team.

I like anytime we can put a check mark in the left hand column, but... It was S Carolina, I expect we will beat Vandy and Austin Peay also. I would like 2 more then I will be impressed.

I'd guess a major reason is we finally have a QB capable of running Gran's offence. The small but quick D isn't being worn out. In short, our youth is getting better.

I think we will learn something about whether or not the defense is improving by how they play on the road against the top team in the country. Not that I think we can effectively stop Bama, but let's see if we play with some energy and passion, be in position and play hard as if we have pride in ourselves. What I don't want to see is for the team to just fold under pressure and give up because they are out manned. If we must lose, at least lose fighting.

SC definitely sucks bad, but there was an emotion and fire by the defense that should have been there since game 1. I'm curious to see how they react to Alabama... We'll almost certainly lose, but losing with our heads held high and losing with slumped shoulders and vacant looks on their faces makes a huge difference. Keep that fire every time you step on the field.

Kentucky really has no influence on the margin or outcome of Saturday's game sadly. Alabama is just so good. I don't think people understand just how powerful Saban is getting them down there...like it literally doesn't matter who the QB is or who the RB is or how many players they lose on D. He may have more quality depth than any coach/program in college football history. I fully expect them to win another national title this year, perhaps OSU or Clemson can outscore them (I think Clemson beats UL and gets to playoff). Anyways, we shall see. My main concern is injuries this weekend...let's be healthy for Vandy.

Honestly, I wish we could concede it. There's not a point in playing that game. All it does is risk injury.

But since we can't, I do want to see us go down there and try, not go down there and quit before the clock even starts.
