We can talk all we want about Drew Barker's evolution. I attended the Louisville game in November and the blue white game in April. The truth is that Barker has made real progress since November, but he still has a long way to go. This is 1 reason why I am more optimistic about 2017 than 2016. Barker has the physical ability to be a successful SEC quarterback, but I think he will need a full year working with Coach Hinshaw before we will see him at his best against SEC defenses. Barker's improvement curve alone should make 2017 a big season for Stoops' program. Throw in maturation and another year of experience for our defense, and I can see a big breakout coming in 2017.

Luckily we should see an even more improved running attack with improvements on the oline. This should help Barker tremendously. Kid just needs more experience. If his leadership is improving then that's a big plus for us. Hopefully we'll see continued improvement as the season goes along.

This time last year it was how Patrick Towles had grown and developed and the summers before that people were raving about Morgan Newton's off season development.

Show me on the field.

Agree; typical offseason article.

Back your talk with wins Drew, not just stats. Couch had stats, JLo had stats, we need wins over the likes of Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.

Coach Stoops has put a HUGE part of his future success in the hands of Drew Barker. I hope that Drew can handle that kind of pressure and take UK Football to the level we all want. We have a young core of talented players, we just can't play undisciplined. Limiting mistakes will be the key to winning more games this season and beyond.

Please do not compare Drew to Morgan Newton. Newton was a disaster in the passing game. Drew will shine in 2016, IF line holds up & running game continues to improve.

We all hope Drew shines in 2016. But like several others have said, this is for Drew to prove.

Pressure?

I you can't handle pressure, shake off the mistakes and do better the next time, you won't be rated a four star. You don't look at critical plays as pressure, you look at them as opportunities. And if something goes wrong you know you can do it right the next time. Once the game starts it is a game, and you forget about the thousands in the stands. And when it is time to perform you rely on all the hard work you did to get there, you can do it because of all of the repetitions which make it a habit.

And sounds like Barker has changed, and will have that hard work to fall back on.

And if you can't handle the pressure then you won't have to worry about it, you won't be in his position.

Coming up!

And a lot of the reason for it will be the more talented and more experienced players around him.

Barker doesn't have to improve that much to be MUCH better than last year in his performance, AND he won't have to show much improvement to be MUCH better himself. It isn't like he and Towles set the bar that high. If this doesn't sound good to you and some other fans, then I don't know what to tell you.
