Unbiased whistle. Allowed them to play through contact, which is fair enough considering both were known for tough defense.

I thought the officials were very fair for both teams. Bad calls in this game were at a minimum. Thank god!

That should be the best part of the dance. Not having to worry about a whistle with an agenda (I hope)

Question about fouls. For years when I played (many years ago, too many to count) if you blocked a shot and then hit the players hand or wrist there was no foul called. Twice at the end of this game, one was Myles on Harms and the other was Young on IIRC Hunter I really thought I saw them get the ball then hit the hand. They didn’t run into the shooters they just got the ball and then the hand/wrist. Why were those called?

I didn’t like the call at the end of regulation . If that kid didn’t miss we are singing a different tune . And even in overtime young got whistled for a bs call on a 3.
He fouled him, though, after failing to box out after the shot. Thought it was well officiated. Always some missed calls in any game.

Overall was pretty decently called. Definitely bad calls that helped and hurt us, but nothing beyond the pale.

The wrist is a foul. The hand in the act of dribbling or shooting is not suppose to be a foul. I thought both Myles and Young hit only the hand on the ball. (Hitting he hand on release is a foul.)

if you read Young’s lips he said “that was ****ing ********” Lucky he wasn’t T’d up.
Yeah, noticed the same thing and the announcers said he needed to calm down, which is when Geo kind of rescued him...

I have come to the realization that I will never think a game is well officiated but this one was pretty good. That said, this was not a foul on MJ and could have been huge.

Good officiating. I thought each team had one or two go their way, but overall much better than most games

I am sure this will not be a popular take but I can't agree the refs being good. In the first seven minutes of the second half they called everything on us. We were just tough enough to stay in the game until things were called more evenly. That could easily have been the season for us.

As we continue to get more respect and rise up in the rankings one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to is getting a fairer whistle. If you look at the stats we get no respect from the officials. None.

Aside from a call or two yesterday’s game was VERY WELL officiated (despite what my dear friend @SirScarlet eants to tell everyone lol).

I've watched the game three times already... in the first seven minutes of the second half the game could have easily been out of control. They were calling everything on us nothing on them. By definition that's not a well officiated game. Had we lost the game in that period then the calls evening out doesn't matter. But like I said I know it would be an unpopular take.

The palming call on Geo was ridiculous. I think their second to last basket before OT their player had a blatant palm but no call. Yeboah was pushed on a rebound and the went out bounds but no call. The blocks by Myles and Jacob looked good but I feel we got some calls on limited contact when we drove. I was worried the beginning of the second half when they were calling a lot of fouls on us. Overall though I agree it was pretty good officiating.

Actually, evening out calls has nothing to do with a well officiated game. If one team is fouling and the other isn't, calls should be uneven.

Fully agree... however 99.9% of this board does not understand that simple concept. I put that out there in anticipation of the responses ("it was a well officiated game as fouls were roughly equal"...WRONG)

We've been called for palming four times this year. I bet other Big Ten teams haven't been called that many times in over 10 yrs.

I an going to give the refs a compliment for not being short fused. Both Myles and (especially) Jacob could have been issued technical fouls for their reactions to borderline calls. It was great that Geo stepped in immediately on both of those, but thankfully the refs had the common sense to let the initial reaction go in one ear and out the other (TV Teddy would have been more then happy to blow his whistle and do a dance).

Yep, that was as clear as could be. As I didn't get to watch game when played live I screamed at him to watch his f'ing mouth cause getting T'd up at that juncture would have been horrid. He still needs to get a bit more in control, or refs may blow the whistle next time.

I didn’t count fouls. I thought they were very neutral compared to some of our other home and away games. Michigan home I thought was very neutral as well. Other games o thought favored the home team. That’s why I said neutral and not the calls evened out but I think others mean good and bad calls and not just the number of fouls. We have some guys that make stupid fouls reaching in. On the other hand Wisconsin held all of our guys all game long and didn’t get many called. I didn’t see anything like that by Purdue yesterday.

Game was well called to the naked eye. To be fair I watched it on replay and knew we won so maybe I didn’t care lol.

We were lucky Young wasn't T'd up for his reaction to that call. Ref probably realized he blew the call so let that slide. And Geo helped by intervening.

People are looking forward to NCAA refs... but we are used to Big Ten refs.. we could easily get some refs that call absolutely every little thing and that will crush our ability to defend. Because if it comes down to both teams not playing tough D and having to hit open shots....

There were some blatant missed calls. The missed Boudreaux (sp?) push off on Yeboah leading to a three-point play should not have been missed. With one minute 30 seconds left in overtime, there was a blatant moving screen by #50 that sent Baker to the ground that was missed; the play resulted in a three point field goal. It would have sucked to have had two road losses in a row decided, to a great extent, by missed moving screens.
