I sort of agree with both "takes" in this thread, it was artistically brilliant but I didn't really care for the story and theme really... the whole time I couldn't shake the feeling I was watching The Grey just with some pieces moved.

For me film of the year was the room. Ex machina and the big short I thought were pretty good too, but a down year in Hollywood imo
Room was great and when I readjust my top ten it's definitely going to be high on the list. I'll be watching the Big Short on Thursday.

One thing this thread has accomplished is making me see "Ex Machina" as that is not my cup of tea but based upon this thread I will watch it in the near future... along with the other recommendations from DaBoss. I hope at some point he can reveal exactly what it is that he does related to film as I would be interested in that.

enjoyed the film. thought the movie was about a half hour too long and was bored at times. the bear scene and the horse scene made my jaw drop though. cinematography was unbelievable maybe the best ive ever seen. dicaprio was phenomenal as he is in every film he does. hardy was spectacular as well and might be the next superstar in that industry.

DaBoss, Leo won the SAG, what were you saying about that and other awards and how they usually win? Surely, he wins the Oscar. From the movies i have seen i think he deserves it.

Saw Bridge of Spies yesterday, thought it was a real good movie, probably not quite good enough to be an Oscar nominee but i guess this is a weak year. Still a real good movie. The Russian spy actor was outstanding and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he won an award.

Saw where the Danish Girl actress won a SAG, she was fantastic. I also thought the SAG winner of the Spotlight cast was the right call.

Need to see Room.

Yeah, whoever wins SAG usually wins the Oscars, I believe especially in the acting categories.
