Everyone knows about the lazy wrestlers who just want to get off the mat and get some rest - The Pin Fellers.

But what about the guys who like to play with their food, get in the extra work, score more points - The Rinse and Repeaters.

There was a time when there was no tech fall. If you wanted to take a guy down, cut him ,and do it all over again (and again and again), you could. It wasn't your job to stop you from running up the score. It was the other guy's job. So it is a pleasant surprise that the top match point scorer of all-time comes from the TF era (1985 - present).

I give you the guys who racked up the most NCAA tournament match points in a single year on the way to victory.

Of course, this isn't all about takedowns. Back points were available. But it is a lot about takedowns.

These totals do not include any points scored on the way to pinfalls, as those are not recorded in the brackets.

Now let's look at just the TF era. For this we will go a bit deeper to include anyone who scored at least 75 match points in a single tournament

You may be wondering how that compares to recent times. Well, wonder no more. The leaders for the 2025 tournament:

Anyone else surprised to see Mesenbrink outscored at his own weight?

So I was wrong, big friggin deal.I caught alot **** from it from some of my RU and Penn State buddies. It is what it is.How you doing brother? How long till you think I get banned again? Some defensive sissy will get on here " we don't need this crap and let's stick to wrestling".

Those are NCAA match points. And if you are who you claim to be (I have my doubts - or hopes) then you certainly did not score that many match points, nevermind takedowns.
First, off I really don't care what you think and doubt who I am.I was a pioneer at RU wrestling and got on that podium...period...end of story.Yes, I didn't score many match points, because most of my matches where low scoring. As far as takedowns, I had more than that.

You are very confused.

Let's try this one more time. Those are the number of NCAA tournament match points they scored in a single tournament. Not the number of TDs. You seem to want to compare that to the number of takedowns you had in all matches which is irrelevant to this thread.

From the original post: "I give you the guys who racked up the most NCAA tournament match points in a single year on the way to victory."

Oh stop with your snide, high handedness. I'm definitely not confused and I certainly don't spend my time creating statistics and live vicariously through legendary wrestlers.I sit in beautiful streams in Colorado and teach people how enjoy and respect nature. You should try it.It will loosen you up.

You can claim you aren't confused now, but what you previously said proves otherwise. Kind of like wild claims of PSU and Iowa national champion caliber wrestlers transferring to Rutgers.

I think I already admitted that things didn't work out. If you want to be a literary expert , there are boards for that. And it was true that they were going to transfer. So whats your background in wrestling? Just curious.

Crackers I may be the only one on the site that doesn’t know this but since you talk about your RU wrestling days who are you? Just curious.

WB Crackers.
Time to liven up the board
With NIL, it is very difficult to predict who will transfer and when.
I am fairly certain PSU wrestlers "Thought" about it, but these are kids.
I think most backups at top schools think about transferring.

Looks like we have a good 27 class shaping up and i hope we can keep those wrestlers and add to them.
I am sure other schools will keep trying to p0ach them until they sign.

I have no background in wrestling, which is why I chose my username. I was a competitive swimmer. I became interested in wrestling through my nephews, who were very good. I view the world mathematically by nature and the lack of data surrounding wrestling bothered me, so I started gathering it. My latest project is to assemble all NCAA tournament results, including team scoring down to the match level using old rules and current rules, in a searchable, free database. There are three of us building this utility.

I have zero background as well. I started following wrestling when my son graduated high school.
He was a 4 year letterman at 125 pounds.... was a decent wrestler but only wrestled in season.
Went 25-6 with 20 pins senior year but was upset in regionals.

I remember watching his team face Zach Rey at Hopatcong, Mike Grey at Delbarton, trevor melde....etc....
When S. Winston committed to RU, they became my team.

So you stated you doubt who I am, and yet you have no wrestling background? That makes a helluva alot of sense. I'm tired of validating myself. The quick run...NJ state champion, and 2x NCAA All American. There you go.

I am aware of your credentials and who that implies you are. I just find it hard to believe someone with them acts the way you do on your own team's message board.

Ok Mr. moral high ground.Im realistic and a precise critic of a team that has all the amenities and yet produces lack luster results year end and year out.And here you are, no experience or real world knowledge of wrestling, making up bogus stat scenarios as a ...what? Part time hobby? To gain some acceptance? Whatever the reason, it's kind of weird and inaccurate.
