We will occasionally get a Subway if we need something quick on an interstate gas stop. Otherwise, Jersey Mike's, Far (Fire) House, and Penn Station have them beat, and local sub shops here like Meeter's Deli and Dagwood's Deli crush all of them.
Fire House and Penn Station were great until I figured the calories. I can about double the calories of a subway sandwich, especially Penn Station. They are awfully tasty though.

I crushed a large cheesesteak at Penn Station a month ago. Still thinking about how wonderful that was. My metabolism is slow though, otherwise it would have been fine.

Just an influx of new chains. 15 years ago.. it was the same players.. BK, Taco Bell, Wendy's, McDonalds.. Subway was the lone "health" option on the block.

But you have dozens of new Sub chains, burger chains and health chains opening in various regions in the US. You have grocery delivery services, meal delivery services, grocery stores that SELL meal delivery services..

I’m not going to dog Subway. The bread tastes good and you know what you are getting. I know it’s not gourmet.
I like to see how the food is prepared. Can be both a good and bad thing. Like if flies are blowing all over it, I don't want that hidden and eat that ****. You can see it before eating and get the chance to walk out instead of not knowing.

Lose weight in the kitchen, get fit in the gym.

Most Americans don’t need anywhere near the 2,000 calories the USDA sets as a guideline and could get by on far less than that when trying to lose weight. Just a bunch of fatties sitting in desk chairs all day then home to the couch to watch reality tv.
I do not watch reality tv.

Forget which 'famous' trainer said it but the phrase was "More great physiques are made in the kitchen than in the gym". As for me, a couple of years ago I drastically reduced 'bad' carb intake (pasta, breads, white sugar, desserts) and overall carbs limited to about 40-50 daily and I dropped 20+ pounds in about 6 months and have kept it off with no trouble. While I do miss Italian food and rice with my Thai food, I don't miss the extra 20+ I was dragging around on the tennis court and ski slopes and enjoy lower BP, cholesterol, triglycerides, etc. Never went full-on Keto but restricting carbs has worked well for me. Maybe not for everyone.
