It won’t happen....so don’t worry about. No two teams from the same conference, EVER, have been the top two seeds in the same bracket.
(I think back in 2009 Pitt (1) and Nova (3) were the first, and only, two teams seeded in the top three of the same bracket. So to reiterate, Duke wouldn’t see UNC or uva until the Final Four, at the earliest.)
Right on - I knew there was a rule about it but they’d had to of played 3 times or something like that. I didn’t recall it happening to Duke but as far as remembering exactly how everyone is placed annually, Duke or not, I drink too much beer for that.

I think the rule for placing teams from the same conference in the same bracket is that they will set it up so that teams from the same conference that played twice during the regular season won’t/can’t meet before the Elite 8.
The only rule is teams from the same conference cannot meet in the first round. Now, if it is elite teams from the same conference, they can do whatever they want (but probably wont meet until the FF).
Oh ok I thought I remembered that there was a rule that if teams from the conference had played at least twice during the season then they couldn’t meet in the tournament until the Elite 8 at the earliest.
In 2004 we were a top seed and UNC was six in the same region. We made the Final Four....UNC lost to Texas in the second round.
UConn scored about 10-15 straight in the final 5 mins meanwhile we had 3 centers foul out... I’ll never forget that horse crap
Cuse really showed up last night! Should have played hard like they did against Duke twice.
Not sure it was effort, they just never ran Virginia off the 3-pt line. And Syracuse’s offense is as consistently inconsistent as it gets. They play around the perimeter until 1 of their 12 small forwards pulls up a contested jumper. Against us those shots went in first half, no so much second half. And similar to Virginia if they fall behind, they are in big trouble. These slow pace grind it out teams like being in control.
Yeah, I don't think it was a matter of 'Cuse not showing up as much as it was UVA showing up in a big way. While the Orange were inconsistent running the Hoos off the 3-point line, you eventually have to give credit to the team who makes 18-of-24 from deep. And let's be honest....it's not like it was always a layup line for Guy. He made some big time shots during that second half run.
Which is why Duke’s gameplan in the first game at Cameron was so genius. Switch everything and trust that you’ll get enough stops inside the arc to pull it out. Can’t really do that with a zone. An effective zone won’t give up easy looks, but it simply can’t prevent the type of shots Virginia was taking and making.
The Orange have the potential to be a title spoiler for any team on any given night in the NCAA's. I suspect a run past the round of 32 is unlikely though.
UVA is a heck of a team. When they shoot 18-24 for three it's nearly impossible to beat them. Guy and Jerome are play makers who make some tough shots. However, I think they will get down 10 points to someone in the middle of the second half and fold up shop by the E8 games.
