Figured to be down compared to last season. Not finishing in the top two in the conference at the end of the regular season would be embarrassing with the depth we have.

Eh although you want the conference to look good so there's more resume building wins in conference, I think the effect might be a bit exaggerated.

Plus I don't know to me, I'm not really sure I can "actively root" for these teams to win ballgames, some of which are direct rivals to UK.

Like I can't imagine anyone here thinking man I really hope that Tenn beats Houston or that Alabama beats St Johns or that Florida knocks off Arizona.

I think regardless we'll have plenty of resume building chances and if we are good, it will be reflected in the seeding, regardless of how the rest of the SEC does.

Not to ruin everything with Facts and Maths, but you realize that if the SEC had won ONE MORE GAME this year -- any game -- and was 26-3 , that the win percentage would be HIGHER than it was at the end of OOC last year? And while, yeah, there have been cupcake games early, it's also true that the schedule has been jammed with Made for TV Early Season major conference match-ups that are essentially toss-up games, like Arkansas - Michigan State.

Hard to justify the claim that the SEc's OOC record or quality of play has fallen off significantly, at least so far. Of Course, it probably will, just because more conference teams are getting the prestige TV games early.

The SEC can’t possibly be as good from top to bottom as it was last season. However, it’s still going to be tough. Tennessee, Florida, Mizzou, Auburn, and A&M won’t be as good as last year.

It's down but not insanely so.

Instead of being A+ it's like A- or maybe B+ Bama, UF, UGA, all expected to have good years. The top teams of this conference will be elite.

I’m thinking Alabama beats Purdue. Should be a fun game to watch. Itll be close or Purdue is gonna get exposed but I don’t see Purdue winning that game.

The SEC needs to perform well. It is in KY’s best interest from a seeding perspective come tournament time. There is also some truth to the old saying, That which does not kill you makes you stronger. For us to be our best, they need to be their best.

This desire to see the SEC underperform is nothing but fan boy nonsense that displays ignorance of actual team preparation and seeding in basketball.

Last year, the SEC went 185-23 in the non-conference. This was a ridiculous mark that was by far better than any league in history. It's the main reason that damn near every SEC game was a Quad 1 or Quad 2 game during league play.

This year, so far, the league is 25-4, and haven't lost any BAD games. However, if we want the league to deliver GREAT metrics, there are a lot of these random non-con games we want the SEC teams to win.

Some big games this upcoming week for the SEC:

Kentucky at Louisville
Mississippi State vs Iowa State
Florida vs Florida State
Florida vs Miami
Alabama vs Purdue
Ole Miss vs Memphis
Texas A&M vs Oklahoma State (today)
Texas A&M vs UCF
Missouri vs Minnesota
Georgia vs Georgia Tech
Auburn vs Houston
Oklahoma vs Nebraska
I think Bama is gonna give Purdue fits. Purdue is and will be very good but Bama is exactly the style team they would struggle with.

Mississippi State gets destroyed by Iowa State.
Similar to A&M, a pretty big loss to a Big 12 team.

These are the games the SEC won last year.

29-6 on the year.

25-4 is an 86% winning percentage. Last year it was an 89% winning percentage. Not a lot of differance.

It's 29-6 and the losses keep mounting. It's a big difference as the weeks go on.

The SEC conference had 23 losses before January 4th last year. They might have 10 by the end of this week.

Ummm, just because we’re not going to match last years percentage, which was the GREATEST IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT, doesn’t mean it’s bad. SEC is still doing well, especially compared to its historical average and other conferences. The likelihood of matching last year is practically impossible and not reasonably expected by anyone. It would be better to compare us to other conferences, not our ridiculous record from last year.
