The second amendment provides its own rationale in the first 13 words. It would have been a lot harder to shoot-up a school back in the 1700’s as 1) there weren’t that many schools, and 2) it’s hard for an individual to commit mass murder with a muzzle loader.

As for God’s involvement, guns aren’t mentioned in the Bible.
