Also love the constant whining about the price at Shake Shack -- and people always say IT'S $15 FOR A BURGER, FRIES, AND A SHAKE THIS PLACE IS COMPLETE ******** WHAT A SCAM

Here are the prices for those 3 items at other fast-casual type burger places, directly from their Lexington Websites:

Shake Shack: $14.17
5 Guys: $13.84 (-.33)
SmashBurger $12.57 (-1.6)
Burger-Fi $14.21 (+.04)
Freakin Unbelievable Burgers ([eyeroll]) $12.97 (-1.02)

So, $13-$15 for your 2000 calorie lunch. I get hating on Shake Shack is the new cool thing, but at least ***** about your service or not liking the actual food/location -- b/c the perception that there is some huge price discrepancy compared to it's *actual* competition is simply false.

If that's out of your price range for a slightly elevated fast food experience, I completely get it, as that's indeed pretty expensive. I'll pay the extra $1 for Shake Shack 10 times out of 10, if we're putting it up against it's peers, but that's just personal preference.

Sounds like many of you better stick w/ the Value Meal at Rally's or McDonalds tho. $3, boom!

Well, I found Shake Shack to be more expensive than 5 Guys to get a similar amount of fullness. Their burgers seem slightly smaller than 5 Guys, and their fries definitely are.

Not sure where you got those prices, because I went on both the Lexington websites and got these prices (before tax). Maybe you used the regular burger for Shake Shack, but since it doesn't have bacon and I'm comparing it to the 5 Guys burger with bacon, I used the more comparable one.

When I went I got the double smoke shack and fries, and a drink. $9.69 + $2.99 + $2.85 = $15.53. I wasn't full from that. The next time I got that and the chicken sandwich, and that did the trick.

At 5 Guys I get the double bacon cheeseburger, regular fries, and a drink. $7.59 + $2.99 + $2.39 = $12.97.

So, basically it's $2.50 more at Shack Shack, for a burger that seems just a tiny bit smaller, and fries that are a LOT smaller.

Personally, I'm a fan of both places. I really like the food at each, and am willing to pay the price for it on occasion. The $2.50 difference isn't something that would keep me from SShack, but not getting as full would. To get the same level of fullness I would have to get 2 orders of fries at SS (which would make it about $5.50 more), or the chicken sandwich (which would make it over $10 more).

I lean towards 5 Guys more. Like the burger as much or better. Like the fries a lot more (hand cuts are better than basic Ore Ida style crinkle cuts).

And ftr, I like the bbq place that opened there (Edleys).

Oh, and we're getting a Gus's fried chicken in the middle of September. Can't wait. Probably won't be as good as the original location, but that original spot in Memphis is considered by many to be the best fried chicken in the country.

I got a single bacon burger at SS and it was tiny. The patty was as thin as Steak and Shake but smaller and it was 6.59. Lemonade was terrible too. Not impressed.

Speaking for me, if I was going to eat a burger I'd eat a BK Whopper before any of them except for Whattaburger. I tried 5 guys and Red Robin but those to me are greasy goo. Of course I eat fast food mostly on post so the quality of inspections are a lot better.I don't eat a lot of fast food so I can again claim ignorance (I used to chunk it away 30 years ago.) Heck McDonald's was still edible back then.)
