My dad took me to my first UK football game in October 1978 at CWS against Georgia. The Cats were up 16-0 in the third quarter but still managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory, losing 17-16. A few weeks later we went back for the Florida game and the Gators kicked a last second field goal to beat the Cats 18-16. I was only 10 at the time, but I just shoulda known.

You could saved yourself 38 years of misery if you had just walked away.
The good thing is that I do remember the 1976 and 1977 seasons too. Dad got me started early on UK basketball and football. The real losing started after I began going to games. Maybe it's my fault?

Got me thinking, first game I remember going to was 97 Alabama. What has ensued since then has obviously been a disaster. Had no idea what I was getting myself into..

Last win saw live was UT 1984. Well meaning friends intent on breaking the streak have invited me to sure wins like Ohio 2004, WKU Joker. Wouldn't go Saturday for anything. Won't watch replays of Bama or LSU wins-may get different results

I was at 2 of the 3 biggest wins in my lifetime. 1997 Alabama and 2007 Louisville. The Stevie Johnson catch was right in front of our seats. Remember I am a U of L alum so one of my favorite moments was in 2002. My fraternity tailgated all day. We were about 1/3 UK fans and 2/3 U of L fans. Anyway all I heard was how we were going to get our butts kicked. I told everyone we had a really good D-Line and they had lost their best O-Linemen to graduation the year before so the tables might have turned. None of the U if L fans and very few UK fans believed me. Of course 8 sacks of Dave Tagging later everyone knew what was up.

They shouldn't have put the game on his leg.

Woodson deserved to throw a TD pass to one of the seniors in that 2nd OT.

7-5. And to think, that's the best season roughly half our fans have experienced.

You're right about that. I'm 32 and that was easily the best UK team in my lifetime, but to be honest, that season was a huge disappointment to me. They were 6-1 after beating LSU and then stumbled to a 1-4 finish in the regular season. I remember Mississippi State coming into Commonwealth that year and beating our brains in. I really thought that team could've won 10 games and played in a big bowl game but to finish 8-5 with a Music City Bowl win was less than impressive. Our best teams are still mediocre.

LSU The Bluegrass Miracle. Should have known.....

Didn't go that day due to my kids 1st bday. UK kicked the FG to go up and my brother in law says, "Looks like we got this one."

My response was, "You haven't seen a lot of UK teams have you?"

Then......

I remember when Couch had FL beat, and Weurfel (sp?) fixed that with little time left on the clock.

Tulane 1980. They drive the field on pass interference penalties and kick a last second field goal to win it.

I started going with my dad in the mid 80's and watched LSU and Vandy beat us regularly. My conscience is clear.

My first one was Bama and the Bear came to Lex.. I was around 7 years old..the crowd gave the bear a standing ovation.....never really knew why then we were standing for the oppositions coach. Now I do.

Close loss on a windy day in maybe 81 or so. I think Jenkins was the QB and we lost 14-17.
