The Trump campaign is a mess

When you look at what he spent in the primaries, versus what his opponents spent, money is not going to be an issue for him. Only to fund campaign activities (staff, travel, etc), as he gets so much free publicity it's insane.

They still haven't learned the lessons from the GOP. This isn't a typical candidate, and you can't grade him as such.

A lot of the GOP has already conceded the election (Presidential). Numerous prominent politicians have withdrawn their endorsements. I think they're just trying to limit the bleeding to the Presidential race and not let it spill over to the Congressional seats.

You can't compare what each raises in campaign funding? Sure ya can. Hell no he isn't typical, typically they are a little smarter.

Free publicity doesn't necessarily help you. His bit about the Hispanic judge (who was born and raised in the US by the way) may have helped him in the GOP primaries but it hurt him in the general election campaign.

I don't know what Trump's future campaign plans are but so far he's been pretty crappy since he wrapped up the GOP nomination. He's got to change to appeal to a broader spectrum of people. He got 13.3 million votes in the GOP primaries. That is about 10% of what the vote total will be in the general election.

And money for ads does count and in a general election it's a huge amount. Trump can't do it himself and some GOP big money types have shied away.

Trump's brashness in the GOP primaries is going to hurt him I think. I saw a Hilary ad in NC last night that basically went as follows.

1. Show a family with a disabled child talking about how much they love their disabled child.

2. Show video of Trump mocking a disabled person.

3. Show the family saying how awful it is to do that.

I predict in the general campaign we're going to see that same dynamic over and over but with various clips of Trumps that were beneficial to him in the GOP primaries but that will be harmful in the general election.

He's definitely not typical. But I also think his bully tactics and divisiveness that gave him momentum early are quickly becoming his own biggest nightmare. Those things will not work on Clinton and certainly will not attract the voters he wants to steal from her. Not to mention the fire he still has raging in the GOP.

Will he even make it to the finish line? He fired his campaign manager, he has money problems and that's not counting message and likeability issues, shew. Hillary has her own problems but not like this.

Just a little Saturday afternoon reminiscing.

I'm looking at my post in that thread from back then, months ago, and it made perfect sense then and even now it ought to make sense but the thing is that somehow it just wasn't true. Trump read the electorate better than I did or than most people dead. I can't deny him that.

He certainly did read it better than me because I did not give him a chance.

That is what I like about Opie. He doesn't make an idiotic statement and get more asinine trying to defend it. If you are wrong, it is OK to admit and eat crow and drop the subject. Double down is getting more popular in poker terms, but when they get caught in a farcical bet, they do not call all bets to the end. When you are proven wrong, don't go all in just to prove that you are proud to be dumb.
