only time will tell if it truly is their final tour in the USA/Canada.

I've always been a fan of The Who, and am tempted to see them one last time.

The WHO have been running final tours for the better part of 42 years. Love this band, have seen them numerous times going back to 79 ( Igloo, preceded by the GD at the Warner, that weekend is a story in debauchery
itself ) and quite frankly, they have never disappointed.

Wish they were even remotely close to Pittsburgh and they fit in Tgar’s schedule.

Go and Rock out if you have the chance. Daltrey is probably in better shape than just about anyone here on the board other than @Tom McAndrew

I’ve seen them 3 times: 1989, 2017 and 2019. Great each time. Gonna see them again in Toronto. Don‘t think about it - go see them.

Thanks for posting this Tom. I love The Who and glad I found out they’re touring this year. I actually get a lot of non-football info from this board. I bought a Speed Queen washing machine based on info from the board.

Hard for me to believe, but I first saw The Who almost 58 YEARS AGO at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. I'm pretty sure they came on right after The Jimi Hendrix Experience (but it could have been the other way around). Regardless, whether destroyed by fire or by being smashed to bits it was a tough night for guitars.

I was at the 1982 JFK Stadium show with Santana and The Clash. This was the same day as the Kirk Bowman catch (or no catch) to clinch a 27-24 victory over Nebraska.
Yup. The Hooters Santana The Clash and the The Who. Someone threw a bottle of something or other at Joe Strummer.

The entire tour was sponsored by Milker Beer.

A couple in front of us was completely strung out on something or other and, as it was a beautiful and warm day, the woman decided to take her t shirt off and get some sun. I recall thinking "if the cell phone was invented now i could take a photo of this and text it to people i know".

You can imagine my disappointment.

I saw them in 2002 at Hershey stadium. Not long after the passing of John Entwistle. Townshend told everyone to FO as they took the stage. The crowd cheered. Knew it would be a great show after that.

Saw them at Bethel Woods with my kid a couple years ago and it was a very good show. Roger sounded amazing. Pete’s certainly not what he was in his younger days, but still worth the price of admission.
Bethel would be a great place to see them given their history. I saw Santana play there during the 50th anniversary weekend they put on up there. The best outdoor concert pavilion I’ve been to. I’ve been to shows at several and only Merriweather comes close.

Wow! Sunrise, FL?!

Always loved em' Tom. I'm really tempted (a guarantee of Boris the Spider would clinch it).

Sure, as soon as there are enough younger bands good enough to push the old guys out the door. I wouldn’t hold your breath on that one though.
The NBA isn’t as good as it was back in the 80’s, but I don’t want them bringing out Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and the rest to play right now in their 60’s and 70’s. It would be sad much like seeing the Stones play in their 90’s regardless of how good they used to be.

Yeah, I think it was their first time back at the location since Woodstock, but other than Roger saying something about playing there a few times on solo tours and telling Pete they should play there, they didn’t really say anything about the site.

I agree, it’s a great venue. I like the museum too.

You’re making comparisons across two drastically different professions.

Well, prior to that, the last time Pete was there he punched out Abbie Hoffman so maybe he was a little reluctant lol.

I was too young to catch the Who and others of that era. Spent my high school and college years “discovering” them. Sometimes new ideas are behind you. Please list today’s 20-something rock bands that have similar star power. I promise I’ll give them a listen.
I love the who, but I doubt I’d go see the old bastards hobble about at 80 yo. Now I did watch these guys hobble about a few nites ago so maybe I’m being hypocritical ;)

I’m seeing Amyl and the Sniffers Friday nite (hardcore punk band, don’t recommend) MJ Lenderman Sat nite (highly recommend) and seeing Courtney Barnett, MJ and Waxahatchee in a few weeks. Courtney and Wax highly recommend.

Why would you waste money on a band you don’t recommend Tia

Judith Durham needed to sing seated on a stool following a stroke on The Seeker's farewell tour. Glen Campbell needed a teleprompter and a daughter on stage to keep him from singing the same song again on his.

You think anyone in any of those audiences cared?

You won’t see “Star power” in rock music anymore because it’s not the popular music of day. Unfortunately you have to seek it out but it’s still there.
