I can’t think of The Who without thinking of the Stampede in Cincinnati in 1979. I wrote about it a few years ago.

I finally got to see them in 2007, I remember thinking that might be their last tour. Sheesh.

Here's my post with an updated AI discussion embedded.

We saw them on the Sunday night before in Pittsburgh after seeing two Grateful Dead shows at the old Stanley theater, now Benedum. Acid meets Quualudes with people passed out everywhere that cold Sunday night. Pittsburgh was lit. The William Penn was insane the entire weekend was as the bands were staying on the top floors. Aikens Deli chickens and madness.

I have tickets to see Neil Young at Bethel Woods in August. How much time should I allocate to spend in the museum? Should I do it before the show? We are making a weekend out of it. What else would you recommend to do?
At least 2 hours for museum. Also do yourself a favor and pay the extra for the Green Room. Covered Pavillion get a drink with admission and nice couches to lounge on before the show. Also some light snacks for sale plus an air conditioned port o john! We will be there ready to rock in the free world. You can tailgate in the lots too. We grabbed premium parking. Not a helluva lot to do around there. There is a casino not too far way.

Yeah, Plant opening was lost that night for me. His set and band, which Was enjoyable, would have been better delivered in a club.

That was just free Led Zeppelin for me since I bought the tix before he was announced. I think we got Black Dog, Whole Lotta Love, maybe Celebration Day? It's the only time I got to see him other than P&P Philly '98, which was a stone-cold banger. It was a nice, festival-ish atmosphere down on the field, still daylight. It's a shame you didn't dig it.

One of the best opening acts ever for me. Of course that is a low bar.

Yeah, having seen Zep and P and P live, it just didn’t melt my face. I thought they were overwhelmed on the big stage but that’s just my snob mentality coming through.

I am sure he was great for many fans on the field. We had bleacher seats, maybe 20 rows up, a section down from the stage. Great seats but the field at Hershey Stadium is always more fun than the stands.

Glad you enjoyed it.

I didn't get an opportunity to see Led Zeppelin. Definitely not a face-melter. More a hippy shin-dig, which is on brand for Plant.

Beggars can't be choosers!

Just a few:

Alistair Greene
Aynsley Lister
Ben Howard
Kingfish Ingram
Cold Stares
Dennis Jones
Doyle Bramhall II
Eric Gales
Gary Clark Jr
Kurt Vile

and lots more
Kingfish is incredible live. He deserves far more attention than he gets.

Lovers of classic 70s rock.... Another decent current band I stumbled upon. Not mind blowing, but pretty good...

Lots open early, smoke away!😁
Ok - I will be there by 730 tonite, waiting for you to show up.
I'm in. My son told me to open up Aug 30. That's the MSG show. I've never been inside that building. I walked around it, tried to look in the windows and wondered.
its a great venue. If you are coming from out of town it's an easy train ride to Penn Station And then just walk upstairs.

As long as the NJ Transit Engineers are not on strike anymore! When going to the Garden, we park at Penn Station in Newark and take the train to MSG. Tons of great Spanish restaurants in Newark. Forno’s is a favorite.
