then Chris Collins burned down, fell over and sank into the swamp

I swear that an alien enter his body at halftime last night.
Unfortunately, the alien moved on and we got "same old CCC."

Somebody at the presser just asked

"I'm not sure if anybody could have stopped Iowa today, but what was the gameplan?"

and Keegan Murray told BTN
"When I saw who was guarding me, I was licking my chops..."

Rapheal Davis said on the aiir that Keegan Murray told him that after the game. I didn't actually hear Murray say it.
Wow, so much for the Chase being deemed big ten defensive all big ten if the player of the year dissing him like this. Shocked he would say that to anyone!

Murray was talking about Beran.

Dave Revsine said in response "But what do you do if you're Northwestern... Beran's a decent defender..."

I agree that its not too classy to say that about your opponent.

The rebuild is going as planned!

The problem with Collins’ take is that unless he’s going to bring in a couple nice finds from the portal next year’s team likely won‘t even be as good as this year’s version. The recruiting “class’“ he’s bringing in is basically empty

It’s not the recruiting class that will hurt next season. When was the last time a recruiting class elevated the team in year 1? The impact of next year’s lack of recruiting class will be felt further down the row. Like the Gaine class.

The problem is that we have a giant hole to fill called Nance. Who, in a normal program gets filled by the development of the young guys you have. And we have a few of those promising ones. Confidence CC can elevate those guys? Zero. That’s the problem.

We do however, to add to any problem that might arise by an exodus to the portal, have a problem of depth in the front court. We have Young and Beran and we know Beran’s limitations. We have Nicholson with no minutes given to I the past two years. He’s close to being at the level he was when he got to Evanston. And Hunger can’t be expected to carry any load. At a minimum we need an experienced front court player.

I said it’s basically the portal for Collins- he has some massive work to do. Other teams get contributions from freshmen, not so much at NU…

My point on the recruiting class is it’s one guy so it’s not even going to help from a depth or development standpoint.

I think a case could be made for collins for a few years because he was at least recruiting talent- maybe he wasn’t coaching it well, but at least he was bringing in big 10 bodies. Now even that seems to be drying up so not sure what anyone can point to as a reason to keep him around (other than the buyout cost)

NU is headed to its third straight thin recruiting class. Berry is the closest, and Bardo likes Roper (and so do I), but there sure doesn’t look to be any all-conference type in the fresh and soph classes.

I’m just not sure I can watch a Buie-Audige offense again next year. And yet if they leave, we’re headed to a last-place rebuild “to give the young guys minutes.” Now is a good time to pull the plug.
