It's being reported in a lot of spots now that Pinson has a broken foot and will be out indefinitely. Hate that for the kid. I think he was going to take some giant strides this season for the Heels.

We know how much these injuries suck and dealt with something similar last year when Amile went down. Best wishes to Pinson....hopefully he can get back soon.

Sucks indeed for Pinson. For his sake, hopefully he can recover quickly.

Who replaces him? They go small with a backcourt of Berry/Britt? Is Kenny Williams up to the task? Do they throw Woods or Robinson out there on day 1? Will be interesting to see what Roy ultimately does.

In a way, this injury hampers them like losing Amile last season did for us. I don't think we missed Amile's scoring as much as we missed his on-court presence and defense. Theo probably wasn't going to score 10 points/game, but he is a good defender and I also think he allowed Roy to get more versatile with his lineups....because Theo was a multi-position guy who could spell minutes as a stretch four. They don't have another guy like that just like we didn't have a guy who could give us was Amile could.

Amile was a big loss for us last season. This is a pretty big loss for them too.

Huge loss for us. and we have a certain moron over on THR who is proclaiming he wouldnt have started for us . I think this really dampens our hopes for how far we can go this season. Even if he recovers most guys with this type of injury are nowhere near as effective when they come back.

Yeah, DSouth is an idiot. That is something both of our fanbases can agree on.

Also, as @dukephysics pointed out earlier, could you ask Steat if Roy is a selfish rat if he doesn't redshirt Pinson?

Tough loss for UNC and for Pinson. Really a tough break for him. As for UNC, he was by far their best defender and I thought he really started hitting his stride in the Tourney last year. His attitude and energy seemed infectious.

Get well.

I assume Roy will go with Britt just due to his upperclassman loyalty, but I think I and many other Tar Heel fans wouldn't mind seeing Robinson take a stab at it... and Kenny Williams try his hand as his backup.

We will see though.

Interesting. He's going to give up a lot of size to whomever guards him. Plus, he wasn't exactly lighting it on fire from the field last season (38.4% FG and 32.1% 3FG). I bet Robinson gets a chance if those numbers don't turn around.

I agree with OADD. I never wish an injury on anyone ever, but after what was said about Amile and Duke last season, there is no sympathy here for tarhole nation whatsoever. Get well soon Theo.

First of all, you can scour those threads. I never said an ill word about Amile.

Second of all, any insult about any person who did would be null if you resorted to the same behavior in a similar situation.

So why are you coming at me for saying stay classy?

That's a tough break for him. I remember well how we felt when Amile got hurt last year. Hope he's back for the Duke games. I want to sweep them when they are all on the court. OFC

Thanks for the kind words everyone. He's a big loss. And believe me, we want him back for when we face you.

And I don't know what was said about Amile when he went down, but I do know many of us wished Giles a speedy recovery when he got his knee surgery. No half-decent fan should wish an injury on anyone, even if it's your rival.

Hate that for Theo. I don't think he's some huge impact player for UNCheat but he is fast and fairly good with the penetration. I hope they replace him with Britt. Britt is really short out there, and doesn't always make the best decisions. I really want to pummel the baby blues this year.

Go up a few post to Mark Gastineau's post. It's about 21 post up and he posted it at 2:32 p.m. Open up the link he has and you will see what was said about Amile as well as others connected to the Duke program. There are close to 2 pages of comments and a majority of them being negative. I wish there were some way of posting it at thr but if it happened the poster would be banned and the the post deleted. Maybe a few thr posters will get curious and look at this thread and open up the link just to remind them of what was said about Amile and Duke. Things like that thread is one reason why myself and other posters hear disdain thr so much and why we will not let up in defense of the integrity and character of Coach K and his program. I know you were not involved and also appreciate the way you are posting here but please check it out just so you know. OFC

Just read through it. Yeah, too much speculating on the impact it would have on duke and not enough well wishes.

And there are far too many obsessive nutjobs on THR. Gary wouldn't piss on a duke fan if they were on fire. And I can't stand duke, but it does no good to behave that way because of a game.

I hope Theo get well ASAP! You never want to see someone go down with injuries! I think we pummel UNC regardless of a healthy Pinson or not.

Do not like to see any player get hurt...it totally sucks. I wish Mr. Pinson a quick, and complete recovery.
That said, I do not shed a single tear for Carolina nation...especially after what was said about Amile (and Duke) after his injury.

OFC
I wondered when someone would mention this. I don't shed a tear for them period. Too many years of having to work with their fans and alums.

Really tough break for the kid. Seems like the only luck he has is bad. This is the reason I think NC is over rated this year. They can't afford the loss of a Pinson or Jackson because it leaves them with no flexibility and a lack of athleticism that Roy's system probably can't overcome, they can't afford to lose Hicks, Meeks or even Bradley because they don't have enough depth with their bigs, and they can't afford to lose Berry. That is just too many guys they absolutely can't afford to lose. Feel bad for Pinson. Hope he can make it back.

I was hoping he would attend Duke out of high school. Disappointed then, but not in Theo himself. I pray he gets better and has a chance to pursue whatever his dreams may be.
