Golfing Rivals in Tears Over 'Disrespectful' Putting Decision During Tournament: 'It Is Just B.S.'
She might want to re-think that 4-leaf clover thing.
A "disrespectful" controversy erupted Sunday during play in the Solheim Cup, in Germany, after the American team appeared blindsided by the Europeans' refusal to concede a putt – leaving two players in tears.
Rookie American player Alison Lee, in her first Solheim Cup, was putting on the 17th green when she thought she heard the opposing European players concede her approximately 15-inch putt, and in video it appears the players begin to walk on to the next hole.
But European player Suzann Pettersen said they had not conceded, and the point was awarded to Europe after Lee picked up her ball to move on, cementing their 10-6 lead.
Both Lee and Charley Hull, Pettersen's teammate, were seen in tears following the confusion.
