This team, these players, are just a bunch of role players. Even at their best, they can't compete with top D1 players. This game was an embarrassment, and there is more coming. These players being paid $22million is a complete joke! We know why they looked deep and talented in the off-season. It's because they're all the same, a bunch of average players. There's not an elite player on this team, not a single NBA level talent.

It's not really so much a lack of effort, though that was part of it in the first half. It's a lack of ability. They can't shoot- not an elite shooter on this team. Chandler is probably the closest to that but he's not elite, either. None of the rest of these guys can make shots. And they're very fragile mentally. If shots are missing, they can't make anything, even wide open shots.

Hang it up folks. This season is over. Quaintance may never play a game. And why would he even want to join this joke of a team? Time to take a turn for the worse, "re-injure" that knee. This may not even be a .500 team. I'm downgrading my last prediction, which was 16-15, hoping we could win home games. I'm gonna say the final regular season record will be 14-17.

And yes, I agree with others, just don't go watch these guys. This is all on Pope's plate. He clearly needs help recruiting and evaluating players. He seems to evaluate with his heart over his head. I don't know, but I've never been more embarrassed of my team.

This is as pessimistic as I’ve ever seen ILWildcat. Things are bad.

The main problem is they’re square peg role players. If Pope had a team full of role players that fit his system we would be really good. Likely not title contenders but good still.

Yeah. He wasn’t quite a sun shine pumper, but he was optimistic. Don’t think we’ll see those pregame scouting reports this year. But I’d actually enjoy those reports with this squad. Would love to see what he would say.

We’re almost .500 right now with only two or three gimme games left. Every other one is in play for a loss.

If you’re expecting Pope to get rid of his buddies, that’s never going to happen. If he gets another year, there probably won’t be any staff changes unless he’s forced to make them. And even then, if players don’t want to play for him, I can’t imagine many coaches would want to coach under him,

We just had a stretch of 25 minutes of basketball at home(tonight was too imo) where we made 4 FGs.

(Last 13 minutes Tuesday and first 12 tonight)

All I feel is that Succession gif where he says “I love you…but you are not… serious people”

Yeah, I hate to be this way. If I can find a silver lining when it comes to my Cats, I will. I don't see any silver lining here, unfortunately. I look forward to UK basketball every year and it's so disappointing when the team isn't even competing in the big games. I was looking forward to all these games and felt, during the off-season, this team would be in good shape and win their fair share.

But I'm convinced the personnel here is the main problem. All role players, all followers, no elite talent, no leaders. They're all waiting for someone else to lead so they can just add their small part. None of them have ever had to lead, snd it shows. The roster is broken. No shooters, either. Pope tried to fix last year's team weaknesses by going away from his first priority- he went to defensive players. I think he was hoping Chandler, Oweh, and maybe even Noah could score to carry the load. What he got was a group of guys who struggle to score or make shots.

I will add- this team is especially fragile mentally. When shots aren't falling, they seem to melt and lose all confidence. Yet against Tenn Tech just last week, they shot 70% from 3. It's a sign of mental weakness- like they're bipolar. It's either all good or all bad and it builds on itself.

What will happen with UK fans when our first matchup with Indiana in many years becomes a huge loss at Rupp? We already lost to Louisville. And looking at our in conference rivalries, we will likely lose to all of them. And at Arkansas Calipari will drum us again. It could get UGLY.

I've already checked out on this season. I want a reset. A lot of our team needs to be told to kick rocks before next year. I don't mind keeping our two freshmen and Chandler, the rest can go.

We need a STUD PG first and foremost, from there go get SHOOTERS. If he fails another off-season of getting good players, the boosters will turn the NIL valve off until a new coach is hired.

The problem is not that they are role players. Last year was also a team of role players, but they cared. The problem is we have a team of role players with a couple of guys who think they are hot **** and absolutely do not care about being team players. There is at least one guy who absolutely needs to be kicked off the team.

I’ll just say it. We will be a better if Pope kicks Oweh off the team. Aberdeen also probably needs to go. One gives zero effort and the other is a chucker. Garrison is also useless but it’s not out of spite.

I don’t know if we had role players last year so much as we had players who were leaders on their teams albeit at lesser schools that also had limitations. This year Pope took a bunch of backups at bigger schools based on athleticism evidently. This is a team where nobody can lead and nobody cares.
