I think it was just we as fans (not all, though I did personally think so for a bit) trying to rationalize what the hell was going on with the team and didn't want to believe it was because the team was poorly constructed in the moment.

Now we have JQ to believe in going forward, so that other stuff should begin to fade.

Go back and watch the entire Gonzaga game now and then repost this. Hard not to think something beyond just injuries was impacting this team. Glad they worked their way through it but that was some painful dog **** to watch while they did.

I honestly still wonder why the line jumped so much in favor of Louisville before that game. Seemed like Vegas thought something happened, because the metrics at the time didn’t support it.
I wonder when they announced who would be officiating the game? If there was some kind of pregame locker room incident I don't know how gamblers could have known that in order to shift the line.

Aberdeen and oweh are the two with beef imo. If you notice, last two games they haven't played much together. When they do, they don't look for each other at all.

The gambling trend absolutely shows something happened and some people know.

They could not shoot. It makes everbody question everything. Its hard to run down the court when you know you cant execute the whole reason the sport was invented. Pope got them to play defense anyway, which is a testament to his power of positive thinking.

I haven’t looked back and checked all the box scores, but it seems that Oweh and Aberdeen never both have big games. It’s either one or the other.

Alot of that nonsense was started by trolls then the media decided to run with it as well.
Tbf Pope started it with his weird comments after the UofL debacle.

The vague “something happened” that he didn’t want to talk about and then the weird “flipped the switch too early” which I still don’t fully buy.

I don’t fully believe the rumors but there was something going on. It will eventually come out and we will go “Makes sense”

Can we all agree that the whole notion was nonsense?
Had Pope never said anything about the background stuff surrounding the Louisville game, no would except the fringe would even be talking about it. It would’ve been nothing but considered a conspiracy theory. He has no one to blame but himself. Keep that stuff among the staff and players, don’t air it out to the public.

He definitely made a mistake but he also didn’t elude to anything that would suggest they hated each other. That was the narrative, that they HATE each other. Zero evidence in that. The fans just cooked it up along with local media.

Im not willing to give it up yet. Especially after the latest FB rumor about Jelavić and Tom Leaches great granddaughter.
Shocked no one else has noticed there are two Tom Leaches before. I have a buddy in the AI department at UK and they’ve been working on this for a while. Somehow I think this is tied to JMI but I’m still chasing down some leads

some of it has gone around already it just invovled others. And when Aberdeen was brought in, it caused immediate reactions. Garrison was part of the issue. That’s what went through people who would know.

Now I wasn’t there but I’d easily put my house on it without a second thought.

I don’t understand why winning a game against St. John’s means everything’s been fine and we now have a chsnpionship. Glad to get it yes. Means more than it’s a win against an okay team? No. I’m more pumped about seeing JQ out there than anything. He and JLoW healthy might fix half the problems by itself but still. Where does that win mean nothing has gone on and everything has been fine?

I wish folks can look at the grand scope of things of the bigger picture instead of tunnel vision.

There were CLEARLY team chemistry issues during and after the UofL game. It lasted until the 2nd half against Indiana. There was something clearly going on. You can't put your head in the ground and ignore it.

As of now, it seems like those are "fixed". Yes, they looked like a team who loved playing with each other. When Lowe and JQ was in the game, the team chemistry changed tremendously. Great sign!

However, we must consider consistency. Can this last over the next 5 games? If so? I will be willing to say it's fixed. And if it is fixed. Everyone should give props to Pope for fixing it.

All I ask is if people stop tunnel visioning and look at the bigger picture. Can't ignore the facts of what previously happen and dismiss it.

So from what you know the issues between the start of the UofL game till about the Indiana game was Garrison and Aberdeen? There the cause of the team chemistry? Is that what you're saying? It wasn't as clear.

To me, from body language and lack of effort and pouting, I would put Oweh in there as well. Garrison makes sense to me too. I was pro Aberdeen for a while, and then yesterday when Aberdeen was not a willing passer that broke that spell so to speak.

For a handful of interviews it seems like Aberdeen is unofficially calling himself the "team leader." Now, I don't know if that is a title and role he put on himself and if so, I can see why there may be some issues with that. Because maybe the team didn't accept him as that role. Just speculating off a scope of what I've seen.

Speculation but I believe the speculation. Oweh Aberdeen MO Garrison. Some has already been spoke about routinely. Some has not here that I’ve seen. Wouldn’t be responsible of anyone to go into details about things being assumed even if it’s credible.

Let’s hope it’s somewhat behind them. The thing is I don’t think the St. Johns Win necessarily changed the magnitude of the problems but as we’ve heard and anyone who has played knows, winning can cure issues. Time heals. Maybe we’re at least to the point where they can manage it and play together.

To me the chances there were no issues are at 1%. To me less than 1%

What is speculation is what caused it. There were chemistry issues- that was obvious to anyone who knows the sport. Look at our assist numbers during those games- they are AWFUL. You know what causes low assists? Not sharing the ball and a LACK OF TRUST. How many times in game threads during those games did we say "No one is passing it" or "Man, the ball keeps getting stuck" or "So and so is playing me ball." Pope himself has said it. Shoot I think even Barkley said it during the first half of the IU game.

Crap happens. Auburn dudes got in a fight on a plane and we all thought "Well, they won't do much" . They did.

Point being. Something was wrong. WHAT that something is uncertain. And yes, it will eventually come out someday. Might be years from now (just like our own Team Turmoil story did) but it will leak out.

What's truly amusing is you have just as much proof that nothing was going on as the people who are spouting conspiracy.

What I just stated though was observable fact. Our assist numbers were awful. Our dudes WERE playing ME ball. Now, what caused that is anyone's guess. But between Pope's weird comment and body language/effort issues- I would feel pretty safe putting a bet on chemistry issues.

The storytellers want you to believe it was something much deeper. Having a 7pt scoring SG bench player running PG with Collin Chandler wasn't causing issues. It's that they hate each other. Body language wasn't because of struggling on the court. There was a Casanova on the team gathering a harem of their teammate's girlfriends

We’re all speculating, but something could have happened internally the day or so prior. This may or may not have spilled into the locker room

There was clearly something very off.

Playing poorly doesn't prove that there was drama.
The fact that we're playing well doesn't prove there was never any drama.

No there is evidence you just don’t know it. Absolutely team issues
You dont have sources either bc someone signed an autograph for you one time.. yeah, the probably didnt get along about something, kids grow up, its called growth...probably coaching too...i understand that cant be considered tho

I know youre deeply hurt we cant hang a good in November banner. Championship team, probably not, worth a knee jerk reaction for a month of games no one will remember, definitely no

I keep asking, why didnt uconn fire Dan hurley after year 4?

What's pur next task AD, breaking the season down and deciding how things will go before the 1st TV timeout?

People made a big deal out of nothing. Even if there was some kind of drama, that’s not surprising. That happens in sports at every level and is just part of it. If anyone wants to see a funny example of this look up on YouTube Peyton manning mic’d up. He gets in a real good argument with his center Jeff Saturday in the middle of a ball game lol he completely forgot he was mic’d up

It’s not a “they hate each other” issue. It never was that. It’s as simple as guys with big egos who thought they deserve something. You have to earn playing time and a few players had to be reminded of that. The jealousy of another player playing over you or doing better than you is real and that’s where the issues stemmed. It wasn’t someone sleeping with someone’s gf or any of that nonsense, it’s as simple as big egos clashing when they should be playing team ball not “me”ball. It’s still a work in progress but it seems to be coming together finally. They have to buy into their role that’s best for the team, not what they want but what’s necessary to win. Let your actions and results speak for themself.
