Someone wanna explain how north stanly got screwed that badly? 5 seed? And the east? And north Rowan gets the west and a 3 seed? A team N stanly completely embarrassed ?NCHSAA has a problem with NS and it’s clear as day screwing them anyway they can with no Vaseline! Teams been in the west for every year they’ve made the playoffs
I have never heard so much crying as this year. Waaahhh this one is small, waaahhh this one is East, waaahhh get over it. A good team plays against who they are matched up against, where they are seeded.
all seeding is based on the MAXPreps adjusted rankings and by the longitude of the school r east and west

So we beat elkin 40 to 0...and they get the higher seed? yup makes total sense
That third round match up every where is tuff !!! Murphy vs Mitchell , North Stanly vs Tarboro, Mt Airy vs East Surry , yes I am whining , I want to be at all three of these barn burners in a couple of weeks!!! That's easy for you to say because your team is in the cupcake bracket in the entire playoffs. Literally there's only two teams that can win little 1A. Go look at all the other brackets in the state and look at how many great teams play each other in the first and second round.

With North Stanley in the east and Murphy and Mitchell in 1-A, then either Mount Airy or East Surry vs Tarboro for state title!
Not everywhere - how about that Starmount v. N.Rowan matchup (N.Rowan might as well reserve their spot in the Western Finals). At least we know why the 1A schools from the MVAC are so opposed to leaving the split conference and recreating the old NW1A. As long as they keep the current setup the MVAC can keep having a team that hovers around .500, but still picks up a 2 or 3 seed every year.

Honestly they have limped down the stretch with several key injuries and pitiful coaching. Put this horse down. Kudos to the team and players for not giving up and giving all they had in what will be remembered as a sad swan song. Like the Pro Athlete that holds on one or two seasons too long this is what we did this season.
Don’t know where you got that info but the NCHSAA determines the conferences. A few years ago, Scott Carter proposed a super 1A Conference (the old Northwest back together) and a Super 2A Conference (Wilkes and Surry schools with Ashe and Forbush) but it was shot down.
What Starmount/N Rowan matchup? Starmount has to get past CSD/Cherryville. My guess is CSD beats Cherryville again and will bring a high octane offense to Starmount and send them home early. Everyone knows Starmount shouldn’t be a #2 seed....
Kinda sucks NWWatchdog, I had our teams playing in the western regional championship all year long , man that would have been some kinda special. At least we know one thing for certain, we got another standing room only barn burner coming our way again in a couple weeks.
I am pulling 100% for North to win 1AA. They were seeded properly. The Comets got the short end of the stick. I think the second round game on the road is just as unfair as having Tarboro in round three.

But they are good team deserving of the seed they got. Mitchell is where they should be, Murphy and TJ should be flipped IMO...
Mitchell has been well above.500 for 10 years now with only 1 or 2 losses in the regular season each year. Yes Avery hasn't had anything for a long time but most other conferences have 1 or 2 Avery's as well. As for Polk this the first year in a long time they haven't had a good team. But Mitchell tries to play larger schools in non- conference games ( thus str is higher then other schools) even though it's getting harder because 3a schools don't want to take a chance of getting beat by a small 1a school. Plus Mitchell has done well in the playoffs ether playing for the western championship and once for the state championship the last year they were in the 1AA.
I believe this is Mitchells year to win state they match up well with Murphy and having to come to Mitchell and get a win is a hard thing to do I'm not a Mitchell fan but you people bashing Mitchell because they play in a weak conference has nothing to do with what kind of team they have they absolutely destoried Franklin and also almost upset Erwin as yes Erwin is a good team this year Mitchell has a he'll of a good football team they only have around 500 students not many schools can field a team as good as Mitchell with that few students
The NCHSAA determines the initial conferences but they take proposals from the member schools, especially in the appeals phase. I remember when Carter proposed the mega conference. If I remember correctly, he asked for a mega conference with something like 14-16 teams from the area, both 1A and 2A. Regular season would have featured conference games against both 1A and 2A teams but there would have been separate conference tournaments for 1A and 2A in all sports except football. When that idea was shot down MA/ES proposed a 1A conference with the 1As from the MVAC along with ES & MA and a 2A conference with the 2As from MVAC along with Forbush, SCentral, and NSurry. The MVAC schools wanted to stay in their split conference instead. I can’t say that I blame them. The current setup allows them to take advantage of getting a “1 seed” in many sports without winning their conference. Why go to a straight 1A where you only have 1 shot at a 1seed when you can stay in a split conference and have 2shots at it (either win the conference outright or just be the top 1A team). I think even you’d agree that the state is wrong to allow a team from a split conference with a sub .500 overall record to get the #2 OVERALL seed in the region over teams with 9-2 and 8-3 overall records who are ranked higher.

Can we snap a football and play already so tired of hearing all this . I just want to watch football. Personally if we both get that far I am looking forward to going to Mitchell and experiencing that environment. I have seen the video on YouTube of walking out of the woods to the football field. I like new places , I like experiencing other people's cool football traditions and experiences.

I'm hoping for a Murphy vs Mitchell matchup if you look at stats and I believe both teams beat Franklin by 21 points this seams to be about as even of a matchup as you will see it will be a battle Mitchell has a big strong offence line and two big running backs and they also play great defence I'm sure Murphy is just as good these are the best games to watch because you dont pull for either team good luck to both teams
