9-3 for a team with their history is much different than 9-3 for a team with our history. Ohio State blew them out 62-3 and they just lost by 30 to Iowa. They expect to be in the mix for conference championships and have a chance at the playoff. To put it into perspective, a lot of basketball teams would be elated with 23 regular season wins and a 5 seed in the NCAA tournament..but obviously we wouldn't, even if it was a big improvement from the year before, we'd be happy that we're improving, but that's not where we want to be.
they haven't been a national power in 20+ years. it's been excruciating rebuilding. have several Neb fan friends and I really don't think their expectations are what you say - they want to get there but know it's still a work in progress. what is this basketball you speak of? sounds weird.

I'd much rather face a team with a name and history. If we play iu, if we win what have we accomplished? If we lose, we've lost to a school with even less Football identity than us.

Fair enough, we won't all agree. If we win, what have we accomplished? Um, a bowl win, something we haven't had in 7 years.

History doesn't do much for me. I mean, beating Notre Dame this year isn't hard to do, but historically, they were great. Beating this year's team has no bearing on what they were 30 years ago.
