I bet it's serious. I'm sure Cal just wants his guys healthy to make a deep NCAAT run. He's keeping Theiro out for Arkansas and their fans.
Well, I feel bad for the kid, but I don’t necessarily feel the same for the coach and the program.

I wonder if Cal has even seen him.
I wonder if they are hiding the seriousness so as not to give the NCAA a reason to drop them from the tourney, like we were wondering about Robinson prior to his surgery.
I always wanted Thiero to stick around but got over it with how Oweh has came in and played. I don't envy anything about Arky or the state of that program.

If that's true, I feel bad for him. My sarcasm above aside, I always really liked Theiro, and wanted him to come back way more than Wagner or Z. Hope he recovers and has a nice pro career.

I think I saw that Arkansas is likely in the NCAAT even if they lose first round. That true? If so I wonder if Cal is figuring to try and win without Thiero and if not, oh well.

They’re in. If they lose to South Carolina, they may become one of the play-in games. Otherwise, they are probably a 10 seed.
So disappointed that it appears Arkansas will win this game after Cal dissed the whole SEC Tournament. Plus, I had hoped it they lost they would be left out of the NCAA Tournament. Oh well.
In any event, Cal's comments about not caring regarding the SEC Tournament had to be one of his more idiotic comments. Why? Well maybe it would make sense if you had a team that might challenge for a National Title. But, really Cal? Do you actually believe your current team is of National or Final Four caliber????

They are likely in. Probably an 10/11-seed. Won't last long only playing 7 guys. They literally only have 7 players.
Because of HIPPA laws you can't just put somebody's medical information out.

I really think part of what he says about this is phycological. Maybe to take the pressure off his players. Guys don't worry about this.........maybe they play more freely. I don't know. It's hard to explain Cal at times haha.
Did you not see the absurd collection of talent he had to win those SEC tournament games? Cal would have had to intentionally throw those games not to win them!
When was the last time a Calipari coached team went into the post-season healthy and at full strength? It was always something when he was in Lexington. I know we're beat up this year under Pope but, it seemed to happen EVERY year with Calipari.

They made a conscience decision to make the worst possible play in that situation lol. Pull all your rebounders and miss the shot intentionally so South Carolina can get an uncontested rebound and call a timeout immediately to draw up a play to tie the game. Like, what the hell?

I think he told him to miss the 2nd one if we missed the first one and he got it all confused. Surely that's the case.
He started not caring after 2015. Recruiting started tapering off then too.

Arkansas' Calipari Doesn't Care About SEC Tournament
I’m almost positive SC had a timeout so it wouldn’t have mattered. I get pulling your rebounders to avoid fouling but if you’re going to miss on purpose to try to run out the clock, you have to have rebounders to contest or else they get a quick easy rebound and call timeout. If they don’t have a timeout, they would get an easy uncontested rebound and 2.5 seconds to turn up court and put up a shot. Pulling rebounders AND missing it on purpose was the dumbest thing to do regardless lol
Whatever the case, one of the Ark coaches, after he hit the first, should have MADE SURE to tell him to try and make the 2nd. Just another episode in a long line of Cal bungles.
He won 6 of first 9 appearances. 2012 lost shockingly and 2019 choked big time against UT in semis and 2013 Noel less team was a disaster. Yeah, he had talent but a lot of it was raw freshmen talent. People on here always say he won because of superior talent but also that he proved you couldn't win with freshmen due to inexperience. It's kinds talking out of both sides of the mouth, ala Calipari himself lol.
He went to all time crap post covid. He was fading some post 2015 but last 4 seasons were a joke. He also didn't have as good of players the last 4 seasons and it showed n post season.

I just think it was always more than likely he was never going to recreate 2010-2015 regardless how hard he tried. We'll never know tho. Did he not get recruits post 15 because he didn't care? Did he not put in the same level of effort in getting them to Lexington? Or did something else happen that caused him to start missing out on guys? Or maybe nothing at all. Just the general cycle of recruiting. In 2010 we were the "it" school. We stopped becoming that at some point.
