I have been reading about changing landscape of college athletics for a few years. Conference reshuffling... the bigs freezing out the smalls... falling attendance... expanding playoffs...

With Coronavirus, it seems the potential is there to accelerate what was coming.

And it may not be all bad. I love college football, but it's no longer about student athletes from local areas playing for bragging rights. The number of players, including from WVU, who have no business being a high school graduate much less a college graduate, that are getting degrees is staggering. Its not all, but far too many. It's pretty much the farm league for the NFL currently and I'm not sure if it's not better to have such a league where these non students can play without this sham that is the NCAA regulations. Same goes for the sham that is "program integrity." I'm not saying disband college football as some kids are both good athletes and students, but like the basketball one and done cases, there are similar football cases.

The virus will effect organizations just like it does people.....if the organization is compromised, it may not recover.

It will hard for me to find much sympathy.

Surging tuition rates while paying football coaches ridiculous salaries, paying multi-million buyouts because a coach won 8 games instead of 9, enrolling players who have no legitimate business being in a major universities, academic fraud, ect.

There's been discussion that college sports are a bubble. I dont know if that's true, but it could be bursting.

If its played I think it will be in empty stadiums. There will still be a major financial decline.

I don't know about all that.

Money and college football go all the way back

The first major program was Michigan. Reason why Michigan became a huge program was because of money invested into them by industrialist in the state

So money is always going to be the determining factor in the sport. Has been for 120 years

Money is the determining in any industry. Football isnt unique. Not sure what point your trying to make.

I'd like to see a scenario were we pack the stadiums comes August but I dont see a likely path to get there.
