CNN anchor Jake Tapper questioned the patriotism of Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., an Army veteran and double amputee, after Mast opposed President Trump's impeachment.


Tapper singled out Mast, who lost both legs in 2010 after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan, over the lawmaker's argument against impeaching Trump. At the same time, Tapper invoked the Republican's military service.

"Congressman Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida -- who lost his legs, by the way, fighting for democracy abroad, although I don't know ... about his commitment to it here in the United States."

Mast wasted 2 minutes of debate time and Tapper was right to call him out for his behavior yesterday as a congressman. It was a disgrace.

I will add Mast wasn't the only one that wasted debate time and it was on both sides. So many congressmen and women are a disgrace in my pov.

Some expressed their viewpoints and talked during their debate time. No need for them to be present with the Dem leadership in the signing of the Article, imo.

The whole thing was a waste of time. Dems feels are hurt and they still has the sads. There was no crime. There was no incitement. This is political grandstanding, again, by the piece of **** party you’ve aligned yourself with. A party whose actions very closely resemble that of a fascist state. Like many have said, if Trump actually did incite violence...all they had to do was play the video...game over...and there's a reason there is not video...it's because it never happened. He should not have addressed the rally in the way he did, but he did not incite...and they know it...

I find it so ironic and hypocritical of the usual scum on here that prior to yesterday, there are several posts bitching about no debate being allowed in the House. Of course, just loudmouth idiots spouting out of usual ignorance. Today, they are whining that the debate is a waste of time. STFU your ignorant and unamerican mouths or learn something and support the constitution

It’s all fake news. All of it. Just like a year or so ago when all these democrats like Pelosi, schiff, nadler, waters, Shumer supposedly were mailed pipe bombs to their homes. Supposedly there were upwards of 30 some targets, but somehow not even one went off and the fbi saved them all and intercepted them all. I call BS

After watching the FBI briefing this week over the Capitol riot, I not so certain the FBI has ever been cleaned up...they are as political as I have ever seen them.

Let me clarify for your dumbass. Your kid sniffing candidate is about to have to govern a nation as divided as its ever been since the Civil War. There were 77 million that voted for Trump, probably 35% of them are fanatical supporters of him. That’s a lot of angry pissed off people that instead of trying to unite and bridge gaps, you all are spiking the football on the logo and spitting on the mascot. That’s fine, you all won the election, but you’re only stoking more division while you should be focusing on governing.

The answer so far you all have come up with to govern is put 20,000 troops in the nations Capitol to stifle dissent and dissuade opposition protests. You’re politically targeting your opposition with sham political trials. You’re attacking through commercial venues everything from speech to commerce to healthcare (irony on all ironies on this last one). If you haven’t realized it yet, you all are imposing your will on the people through threat of force. What does that make you? Give you a hint, you all have wrongfully claimed Trump to be guilty of it.
