Neeli needs to take the search out of Krafts hands and hire Terry Smith right now. After that, but not before that Neeli needs to work on finding Kraft's replacement at athletic director. Remember, this disaster was caused because an incompetent AD did not have anyone lined up to take the job, then chased after unicorns for too long. The program is dead. The next two years we're Purdue. Accept it. When, and only when, Neeli has an actual athletic director capable of doing the job, fire this fool and immediately hire him/her. That's my take.

Is this your new board name? It would be nice if you advised us when you added a moniker, but it's not difficult to identify you based on your posting skillz

Sorry but no idea what you are saying. My post is indicating what needs to happen in my opinion. If you disagree simply say so.

I simply disagree with you and your latest board name. In creating same, did you just hit random keys on your worn-out keyboard?

Anything that says "hire Terry Smith" should be deleted. There was no point to read after that.

What has to happen now is to reach out to pretty much every Div 1-A head coach who managed a winning record this past season and see what it takes to pry them from their team and quick. I know long for the time when Brent Key seemed like a viable option (he's a lousy pickup, but anything is better than the current cluster)

We Are!

Dont forget it, you chicken littles. Some forget that we survived the worst situation possible. A death blow to most programs. This is a blip on the radar. Fire Kraft. Move forward.

I said this at the beginning, if you fire a coach mid-season, it is usually because you have someone lined up. I had hoped it was Urban Meyer. I even convinced myself it had to be him. The decision to fire Franklin mid-season now looks to have been emotional and personal. Smith or Dabol could have been hired at any time. Brohm could have been hired a week ago. Chesney could be hired Saturday night. Stein is now off the table. Hartline still out there.

What difference does it make at this point in time? Something has to move forward right here and now.
I was talking about what it means for Kraft. As I said earlier, the first question he'd get is why now? Why not at a time when he could have an opportunity to salvage something from this class? I'm not debating whether or not Smith should be the next coach. Kraft has painted himself into a corner. Maybe he has a way out?

Unless he had talked to Meyer and had a "gentleman's agreement," then fired Franklin (still thinking he had Meyer), and Meyer than backed off and started touting Hartline. That would've forced Kraft to go after someone else, a working coach. Still could be a number of guys in play whose teams are in CCGs and/or playoffs. Does raise the question why the recent hot interest in Sitake if he's got other guys lined up. Maybe hedging his bets?

Then again, Kraft may be up the creek without a paddle! 🤷‍♂️

Kraft has a PR problem if he elevates Terry Smith.
Any Reporter worth his salt: If he was your guy, why not hire him 7 weeks ago, or 6 or 5 or 4 or 3? Why not give him a fighting chance to salvage or put together at least a core class of 7-8 reruits? Why would you handcuff him needlessly?
I'm not on the hire Terry train, but Kraft already has a PR problem. It's clear that he hitched his wagon to Sitake, possibly with a handshake agreement, and didn't close the deal. Given that it happened one day before signing day now he has to scramble to figure something out, and the odds may be stacked against him as it's possible (though unconfirmed because it's all rumors) that he may have passed over some very viable candidates to get Sitake and now those candidates are either no longer available, or have considerably more leverage because they know Kraft is screwed.

Frankly I don’t give a damn what it means for Kraft. He has made his bed and now he needs to sleep in it. Perhaps a huge slice of humble pie needs to be served.

On Kraft you could fire Kraft then appoint the assistant to the assistant's assistant and that person couldn't screw things up as bad as Kraft has. Hell hire the janitor to take Kraft's place until you can find the right person. I never thought anyone could screw things up as bad as Sandy Barbour.

This is worse because it is self-inflicted. Recruits are signing everywhere except here. Recruiting class was Top 10 and is now 128th, 4 kids are still "verbally committed" but 3 are PA kids, probably dreamed of playing for PSU. If anyone thinks that this isn't going to lead to 2-3 down years, they are kidding themselves. To salvage any hopes of a decent team, they need to find a coach that can keep what is here from entering the portal and then replace the recruiting class with transfers in January.

Hartline isn't coming until OSU's playoff run is done. If he is the choice, the recruiting class is shot as is any hopes of getting transfers, we will be playing next season with less players than Bill O'Brien had when he was under the sanctions.

If you get a coach from any program, he’s bringing kids with him. Definitely have to get a coach announced ASAP. Hope there’s a plan.

Hartline would be after the CCG
