Lobo’s comment was in reference to saying she disagreed with officials making a foul call in the final minute of the Aces’ 89-81 win over the Fever.

"They disagree with you," play-by-play announcer Pam Ward said to her partner Lobo.

"They do, and I disagree with them," Lobo responded. "And that’s fine. That’s what makes America great, right Pam Ward?"

After asking that question, there was a long silence between the two before Lobo said, "I should rephrase that," to which Ward responded, "Yes."

So insufferable. It must be a miserable way to live, having your radar up at all times searching for things to be offended by. Their first mistake was letting women call games.

MLB on Fox is insufferable to me. Regardless of the sex of any announcer.

I don’t get it, truthfully. Was it because of ‘make America great again’? Surely not; people are still that butthurt and immature? Do they have so little concept of the world going on around them that something like that is what dominates their thought process?

Or am I misinterpreting? I swear I don’t get it.

Women sports announcers are horrible, period. That said, pretty much ALL sports announcers are bad now. Most of them cannot stand the idea of there being a moment during the game where they are not talking. They also feel the need to let the audience know their opinion of everything about the game, the players, the teams, the stadium or arena, the city the event is happening in and anything else they have an opinion on. It is obviously far too much to ask them to simply do the play by play. People manage to sit through entire games in person without someone talking non stop about everything. I guess it is crazy to think people can do the same thing at home.

I think it was either that or the prevailing idea amongst the viewership that America is not in fact a great place. Or maybe she was being reminded off-air not to call the refs crooked. As I recall, it was a bad call about a foul on a screen that they reviewed and still called wrong. I like to think it was the latter.

I even resent Gamecock announcers stating "we" on a broadcast. I cannot imagine Bob Fulton ever stooping to that level.

My guess is that the producers are requiring this. Yuk.

And then there's Charlie Mack's: "kiss and hug the ones you love"

Much to do about nothing, and sounds like they made more to do about it than need be. People disagree constantly, sometimes right, sometimes wrong, and the world goes on! Definitely the that's what makes America great threw a wrench into the commentary!

How does a factual statement that living in a country like America is great because we are free to express opinions and disagree throw a ''monkey wrench'' into the conversation? Unless you are against such freedoms.

The key is expressing your opinions in a respectful manner.

Reminded me of this story from a while back. ESPN pulled an announcer from a game because his name was Robert Lee...because it sounded to much like Confederate general Robert E. Lee. Interestingly, the announcer was Asian.

Just things that happen to sound like things that people don't like is enough to be offensive.

Ha. I had forgotten all about that.

Ludicrous doesn't begin to describe it.

But in the case of Ellis and Suggs, it really is "we." Both are graduates of USC, both are USC lettermen.

And they broadcast on "The Gamecock Radio Network," after all. It's not like they work for ESPN or NBC. If you are listening to the game across that network, it should be assumed you are a Gamecock fan.

Too bad there's not a vaccine for TDS and Trump made it mandatory for all those testing positive - how could the deranged object to that?

This won't be popular here but I really think Ellis and Suggs are the worst sports broadcast team in the country. They both have voices made for silent films. I've heard better local high school radio broadcasts than the Gamecock Radio broadcast.

Well when a runner crosses the 55 yard line, most broadcast teams would be thrown for a loop but Todd never skipped a beat.:ROFLMAO:

I don't want to trash them too much, but it is more like hearing a game called by a couple of your longtime Gamecock friends than a professional broadcast crew. I guess that's why, for all their faults, it feels like radio "home" when I hear them.

Their homerism is stronger than new rope. Their call of the game definitely has a very amateur feel and sound. Again, the experience of listening to local radio stations broadcast of a high school game really compares with Todd and Tommy.

Bob Fulton was boring as hell but he at least sounded like a real radio announcer.

They are definitely not the worst. Also definitely not very good either.

Most high school football broadcasts are far worse.

The amateurish feel doesn't bother me as much as the homerism. And that needs clarification.

We all expect homerism, it seems natural for the literal home crew. But what bothers me is when it interferes with conveying what's going on in the game.

Some opponents RB goes off tackle and is CRUSHED by a gang of gamecocks, the defense swarmed to that one. Now it's 2nd and 2.

And I'm thinking 2nd and 2? It sounded like we were tackling them for a loss.
