My guy everyone played that year, there was a champion. Idc what was going on, Kentucky doesn’t go 9-24 or whatever that ****** season was. Also, it wasn’t just that year obviously, he also had the 2 worst losses in our history. Getting knocked out in the first round just doesn’t happen here. Hell even tubby never lost in the first round. Also cal missed the tournament 2 times, Which in itself is a friable offense. Pope has a lot of work to do to get to cals level of suck.
Oh give me a break. State laws were different all throughout the country. Covid and the transfer portal opening up was Cals downfall at UK and I wont argue that. What I will argue is that he and his teams wouldnt have gotten punked/embarrassed physically by Tom Izzo at Kentucky like they did tonight. Pope is too soft. I hate to say it

I've made the point many times but the benefit of having a good three point shooting team is mostly that it makes it a lot easier to score twos. This team so far hasn't proven to be a consistent threat from three, but tonight and vs Louisville we needed them to get us back in the game and lost any real flow to the offense. I'll be Captain Obvious for a second: you can't get down by 17 points in the first half and expect to win, and now we've done that in both our meaningful games.
On the point of three point shooters getting easier twos--Pope's offense relies on defenders needing to go over screens and chase shooters, who can then make hard cuts to the basket and get easy layups. We're getting a few of those but Pope needs to find another angle on offense because that's not working.
Side note, but I'm watching the Kansas Duke game and they had an all-access inside the huddle with Kansas. I started our game late and skipped most of the dead time, did they go inside our huddles? Curious what the TV caught Pope saying, if so.
What you dont realize is Cal had talent! Pope has experience. You saw where this got us! It aint the 90's anymore... Talent > Experience all day every day. That wins you ball games. #StateLaws brotha. Look it up.. I dont even live in Kentucky and im not ignorant. 2020 laws

We have been working on defense all off-season apparently. Haven’t even really worked on the offense. That’s what Pope said. Yikes, players may have been playing Flappy Bird during practice or something

Another season under Cal wasn’t the answer either and a change needed to be made.
I’m pissed at the guy at the very top for not doing his job. Nate Oats was born to lead Kentucky and should have been harassed about the job until an EPO was put out against Barnhart and then you move on down the list and repeat.
Again, I think Mark Pope is a great man, but hes not gonna recruit top tier talent, and coaches a very soft defense. If JQ does play this season, I hope it makes a difference. Having a great offense is fun against the lesser schools, but its good defense that wins you championships with a good offense!

I'm not giving up on Mark Pope just yet, its still November lol. If JQ can get back to playing, it can change our entire Defense, as a good rim protector can really erase a lot of defensive mistakes. Kam looks to be coming along really nice last few games, and would like to see more of Jelavic running the zoom out top.

Correct. Im not bringing up religion or anything (could care less what you are or anyone is,) but there is quite the difference between handling BYU kids that hold a certain pledge and a public powerhouse University team like Kentucky. Its different!

Man the whole Covid excuse is such bs. Every team had to play through it. A lot of them won a lot of games and remained respectable. It’s absolutely a weak minded excuse to say UK sucked because we had to play in covid. Literally every team did and the MBB team wasn’t hit particularly hard by it either.
Care to elaborate what state laws handicapped the UK MBB TEAM vs the rest of the nation?
