Well, this guy's an idiot for a lot of reasons, but he's absolutely right about Beamer bringing this loss on himself. Beamer showed how out of touch he is with not only the game of football, but with how the game is played.
He was celebrating with the fans and team at halftime along with writing his victory speech.I think Beamer's coaching was really exposed in this game.
We were rolling in the first half while A&M was playing by far their worst football of the season. Nobody from A&M was doing anything right.
A&M got their crap together at halftime and Beamer had no answers. One coach took his team into the locker room down 27 points and calmly got them right back into the game. One coach took his team into the locker room up 27 points and brought them out unprepared to handle any fight from the opposing team.
Completely unprepared for the momentHe was celebrating with the fans and team at halftime along with writing his victory speech.
Well, I'm glad you said that first because he truly is an idiot, irrespective of how deficient Beamer is.Well, this guy's an idiot for a lot of reasons, but he's absolutely right about Beamer bringing this loss on himself. Honestly, wouldn't you like to find that out? I'd love for somebody to leave here because of great things he had done. When has that ever happened at this place? I'm old; I would enjoy a novel experience born out of success for a change. Other than the end of the Sparky and Brad eras, nothing could compare to how hapless we are right now....If we had gotten Smart, and he was successful, you think he’d still be here?

Franklin and Va. Tech are talking now according to a report I saw yesterday. We would have to intercept him.We have a golden opportunity. I know I'm the lone individual beating this drum, but James Franklin is still sitting out there. A few weeks ago, Beamer was considered reliably safe considering the 9-win season last year. But with the turn of events, that may as well have been 50 years ago. The A&M game gives grounds for dismissal. Nobody in America, outside of our fan base, would say Beamer is untouchable right now.
I don't know that Franklin would come here, but we once convinced Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier to take the job. A good AD can get it done. It's almost a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The lone knock on Franklin is that he couldn't win the big game at PSU. I'd settle for just getting some big games. He already won in the SEC at the hardest place to win, and that was pre-NIL and pre-portal, so a bigger feat than what Vandy is accomplishing now. Would he win us a title? No. But I'm confident he'd build a consistent 8-9 win program. Maybe sneak into the playoffs a couple times. Most of all: he can actually coach. Sure, maybe you can start to find some deficiencies when you stack him up against the Sabans and Smarts of the world, but he's an upper tier head coach by any standard.
I don't see any reason why the AD shouldn't kick the tires on it.

I don't think Franklin would take the job here. Good head coaches have to recognize that South Carolina is the graveyard of coaching careers. Franklin has no desire or need to be the guy who comes to South Carolina and turns things around. He is going to want to go somewhere that success is easier to attain. We have a golden opportunity. VT is a great fit for him. He would have an easy conference to play in, a program with a recent history of winning games, access to the recruits and HS coaches he has been working with while at PSU and a fan base that doesn't delude themselves into thinking they are some sort of powerhouse in football and will be happy with 8 win seasons. He would not have to contend with a powerful in state rival. The VT job looks much more enjoyable than trying to change history at South Carolina in a brutal SEC.
At Vandy, he was in a different place in his career. He was building a reputation. At PSU, he got paid big time to come and he checked the DEI box for them as a part of their program's reputation rehab. PSU was saying "look, we hired a black head coach, we are so woke and good". PSU also had the benefit of being a blue blood program although one with a pretty serious black eye. The team and the school were still very popular and very beloved by a lot of people and recruits in the area. PSU was a pretty easy rebuild. That's not his track record though. He took the Vandy job...one of the most difficult of all P4 jobs (or P5 or whatever it was at the time). Then he left there for PSU when that program was in tatters and in need of a rebuild, in the 2nd toughest conference in college football.
He hasn't walked into an "easy" gig yet. He is noted to be a program builder, and that seems to be where he really gets his kicks.
You don't think it's even worth a call by the AD????

Yes, I think he is definitely worth a call. For no other reason that it would be indefensible to not at least try. The whole conversation is probably academic anyway. I don't think Beamer is getting fired after this season unless he loses to Coastal. I also think, after watching Clemson some Saturday, that we could win that game and, suddenly, everyone will love Beamer again.
