The 0-11 team under Holtz would have beaten the ever living shiiiiit out of this team
The D seems to have gotten a little confidence they weren't going to get beat up by Sherlotte and they actually became a little disruptive in the second half. Imagine that, you don't play on your heels and somehow, someway the opposing offense has a little more difficult time moving down the field at will. I like that Bam Martin LB. He is big and rangy. I hate the way we platoon the second string QB. Pee Wee football in my opinion. IF Rattler ever goes down, God Forbid, Luke has only been with 2nd team O-line and receivers. Makes zero sense. Let Luke rep with First team O. Why were our tackles out this game? Performance I hope and not injury.
there is something to be learned from watching the Wake game. they create space for the RB's and QB. Even Jordan Burch, whom i've been critical of seemed to get aggressive for once. The first half he was a complete dud however. watched him chasing several plays run directly to his side and he just doesn't commit. Seems this team is not asserting itself but waiting on the other team to dictate. In their own heads so to speak.

Do some of you just automatically assume any poster who doesn't think like you are trolls? His post history says otherwise. Not only that, but he made this thread during the 1st half, when we were struggling. OP was just venting out of frustration. Relax.
Possibly 4 future NFL HOF defensive players have come through in that span; Abraham, Gilmore,Ingram and Clowney.
There is no way that team beats this team. They had D-Line guys on the Offensive line. That team went 1-21 in two years. The 1999 team was shutout twice while scoring 3 points in two others. The only game that was close was the Vandy game(11-10). After SC State, Carolina will be 3-2.
The defense was on it's heels most of the first half. It was only after blitzing that this game turned around. We don't blitz, Reynolds chews up the secondary.
You're not far off. We could have won a couple of games that year but Holtz took a team that was not built for his offense and stuck to his guns regardless. I was critical of it at the time but obviously he was right sacrificing that year. He knew there would be better days. And he was correct.

It seems like you didn't experience those seasons. Several of the games were close, even Clemson. And we played with pride, somehow.
I think you are right that the 1998 or 1999 teams would still lose to the 2022 team because 1998 was sloppy and 1999 could not score. But I think the 0-21 guys could take down the 2019 or 2020 Gamecocks for sure.
Calling people trolls is as old as the beginning of time. Which for this board would have been around 1998. It's what you do when you don't have a concise argument. I never do it.
I’m not going to call you a troll. But this team would probably win the SEC East in 1999. We’re 2-2 and played two teams that’s more talented than any team in 1999.
