If you don't expect this (from both sides of the aisle) then you are overly naive.
That doesn't mean I'm condoning it of course, but this is pretty standard fare for politicians in general, particularly at the national level.
Now the question is, what are we going to do about it? Apparently nothing because the same people keep getting elected over and over again and we wonder why nothing gets better.
