Yes. I am aware how things are going Dude1. I tend to follow Duke basketball fairly close. Everybody is ready to sing praises and ride the wagon when its a smooth road, but hit some bumps and they curse the wagon. We have endured almost clownish incidents that drastically affected this teams chemistry. I don't think I've witnessed a D1 team since I've been following college basketball sustain this many injuries to key players. I'm as frustrated as anyone here. I also realize that anything can happen in college basketball. I can't get behind people calling Tatum garbage. He's a damn freshmen. I can't get behind people calling for Capels head when he's been handed a broken thing and expected to just win, and I DAMN SURE can't get behind a stupid F8CK!#@ thread at our home board in January called This team is done.

I wasn't wrong at all about Tatum. He was playing horrible and taking bad shots. If you want to be an apologist for players, feel free. I'm just not that type of dude. For you to not admit he was playing bad and making dumb mistakes is just flat out dishonest.

Never said he didn't take some bad shots. Never said he didn't make mistakes. I never wrote him off either. As I said in the other thread...It all boils down to becoming a TEAM. This board was pounding our players early and it really wasn't fair for a team who was so broken up and unpracticed due to so many injuries. All the teams we were losing to, hell they had been practicing and playing in games, TOGETHER. For a while we were a different team almost every game, adding in another new style and player each game. They have to get familiar with each other, learn how they can rely on each other and what to expect from each. That's a process that usually happens super early and in those exhibition games. We did that way into the season, now things are becoming to gel, we're learning how to move as a cohesive unit, help defense, trust in one another. and even though we look 1000 times better, we are STILL in the process. STILL have players healing and learning to trust in their injuries. Giles, perfect example. He's playing cautious. Can't blame him with what he's riding on. Once he fully trusts the knees, could spell doom for the upcoming opponents. I'm not trying to be mean to posters, but i can't take threads early in the season saying this team is done. Thats disrespectful. To our staff, players and those of us who absolutely love this team and University.

Criticism is fine, no one will give you a hard time about criticism, the team did not play well early in the season. But the fact is some of our fan base turns into whiny spoiled brats when there isn't instant gratification. I'm not saying you were part of this or weren't part of this. But for anyone to write off a team in January especially a Duke team is ludicrous. The title of this thread and some of the specific posts within are laugh out loud funny and they should hold their hand up and say I was wrong my bad. People take things way too personal trying to justify their past comments

There we're very few people who stuck with every player, every coach and just trusted in K. Those of us who did aren't geniuses, weren't being Duke homers..... we've just seen enough thru a lonngggg period of time to know the pieces were in place, just give K time! The Goal, expectation and standard for Duke EVERY YEAR is still far from reached. Buckle in!!!!

Hah! I almost bumped the thread myself, but figured someone else would enjoy it more Hey, I DID say it was possible we would get it together, I did say that we would beat Carolina... I got at least a few things right. And I DID say this:

if we DO win a title, I want you to find this thread, make up a t-shirt with the thread title on the front and a hashtag on the back something like #dumbass, and then send it to me. And I would wear it every day. Forever. Because... Well, you know. Six.

My fingers are crossed for that damn t-shirt!

Okay, lets hammer it out.

I would say, given the hype the team has had, our coach, and the sheer talent we have (what, seven or eight future NBA players? Returning All American, a double double machine, and 2 of the top 3 or so recruits in the nation) anything short of the Final Four is a disappointment. I know that seems like a terribly high bar, but that is what the team is shooting for, according to Coach. I suppose I could accept Elite 8 as a sign of "good enough" if we had to compromise?

See, here I at least bailed myself out... if we go out in the sweet 16 or earlier, I am a genius!

Listen, I'm sorry I posted such a negative post, especially so early in my time on this forum. Sorry that people got pissed off at me for it. Sorry that you guys got my most negative nellie post of all time, and I hope it at least gives some folks some laughs. I am glad that the team has seemed to have tackled a lot of the problems I was lamenting, and hope that I am wrong about not making it to the Elite 8. Not sure I can offer much more of a mea culpa, as much as some folks here seem to want to string me up by the neck until dead *cough cough showenuff*
