Commodity cheese in the cardboard box. If you ain't been poor, you don't even know what I'm talking about. Best cheese I've ever had btw.
Was just talking about this last night with my mom. We used to get the cheese, peanut butter, and powdered milk. Kids used to make fun of me and my brothers for eating that stuff but it helped my family out when we needed it.

I was a poor as a kid. Does that count? Some of the kids at school asked me why I knew so much about the news/current events, etc.... I told them I read the newspaper. I didn't tell them I read the newspaper while in the outhouse and before I used sections of it to wipe my arse. Wiped my arse with the Sunday "funnies" one time and ended up with colored skid marks in my undies.

Does buying a cheap brand of vodka and filtering it through a Pur water filter a couple times make you a poor? Asking for a friend.

pro poor tip...at the Hardee's on Richmond road (maybe all stores) you can get the 5 piece chicken strip combo for LESS than the 3 piece chicken strip combo. It's like $2 difference. I thought I was going crazy looking at menu one time do I said how much is 3 piece combo...$6.99 (about). Oh ok how much is the 5 piece combo...uhhh 4.99. Ok so even if I don't want 5 pieces, guess I'll take the 5 piece combo.

Mickey D's has the best deals on the market. $1 burgers and mcchickens. Horse meat or not, it's a hell of a bargain... Sometimes, if your lucky, you can scrounge the tables inside for some half eaten Big Macs before the workers make their way round. See it's all bout timing. Done that durin many a rough time, never fails!

The poors are starting to hit their stride in this thread now and I like it. Particularly the guy that parks outside Savealot and laughs at the poors going in. Sounds like a great time.

Grazing on free sample poors are the ones I like to watch.

Growing up, if you did not have your lights or any utility cut off at least once every 4-5 months, you where not a poor. Now sitting in the dark, eating gubment cheese or peanut butter, now that is my definition of poor. I can remember several times that **** happening.

Lol that poor security guard. Oh my. Should've saved face and not done what he did.

Hardee's has the chicken sandwich/burger/fries and drink for 4 bucks - dinner for two!

BUT - and not even I have been brave enough to try, but will one day - Hardee's also has The Big Bag Lunch which features TWO dbl cheeseburgers, two fries, two pies, and a big bad drink. That's unreal. $5. I think that's accurate.

We were pretty broke growing up, lived in a 3 bedroom apartment with a family of 5. We had an 81 Pontiac sunbird (our nice car - the other was a Vega that exploded on the road one day) that had the drivers side door duct taped on after it fell off one day and we had to crawl through the window or come in through the passenger door [laughing]

My father would drive me to junior high every now and then (upper class junior high and high school) and we had a hole in the bottom of the car so if it was raining and we drove over the puddle I would get splashed with muddy water, would always make him drop me off about a quarter mile from school so I could walk in because I was so embarrassed.

He finally got rid of that car when he was trying to leave our house to go to work in a snowstorm. We had a hill right from our driveway and he made it up about 80% of it until the car died on him and started rolling back. Me and my mom were watching from the living room window as I had a snow day from school and I remember her screaming for him to get out. Next thing you see him rolling out through the window right before it came crashing down at the bottom of the hill[laughing]

We were always happy and I never felt deprived. I'm happy I had my experience, just makes you realize how pointless money and possessions really are in the grand scheme of things.
