WVU had "no proven receivers" according to a lot of posters on this board..........

This is not an "I told you so" thread either, but I just want to point out that when we watch Kevin White get drafted tonight in the 1st round..... and see Mario's name scroll across the screen this weekend as well........ that perhaps posters shouldn't just click the "send" button on their posts so fast when trying to judge our WRs right now.....

WVU is still returning more than 2,200 career receiving yards in 2015.... and adding quite a few instant-impact guys too.

Monumental strides can be made in an offseason.

This time in 2013 we were saying we had no proven receivers as well. If we are gonna revisit history don't just pick out the parts that suit you. 2012 lead to two QBs being ran out of town on a rail. One thing we have going for us this season is the guys that we are hoping can step up have been here for at least a season now. That was not the case in 2013.

I was definitely one of those guys. I saw flashes of Alford's speed and thought he would be the best receiver (mostly because I thought the vertical passing game wasn't going to be as good and therefore trying to get Mario in space like Tavon was going to be the best option.) Honestly I thought Kevin White was kind of like Wes Lyons. Physically impressive, but just not able to get the jump balls or create separation. Even White and Holgs said that he made great strides between '13-'14 and '14-'15.

You make good points...

....but then again...

...we've gone into seasons thinking we didn't have good WR's... ....and not a single one sniffed the NFL.

--------------------

It's the 'stars don't matter' argument all over again. Sure, some (of a huge amount) low star players become studs...and some 5 star (which there are relatively very few) players duds....

......but odds (percentages) are pretty truthful/consistent.

But in those years, did we return 2,200 receiving yards from our supporting WR staff?

We didnt in 2013. We had basically a clean slate

I think its a safe bet that almost no poster (except for the staff guys) would ever have a prayer at being a NFL or College talent scouts. But for some reason almost every poster on here is but in a part time gig or hobby sort of role......Its called an opinion and most of them stink like
